I just had my first meal at The Back Porch, and I am convinced I’ve found my new comfort-food headquarters. From the moment I walked in, the place had a fun, nerdy vibe. We were welcomed by the owner, Krissy, who walked me through the menu and made recommendations.
Now… the food itself was outstanding. I ordered more than any reasonable person should, and it was absolutely worth it:
– Back Porch Burger: Perfectly juicy, full of flavor, and stacked just right. Every bite was a little masterpiece.
– French Dip: Excellent. The meat was tender, the bread had that ideal crisp-soft balance, and the au jus was rich and deeply satisfying.
– Mini Mac with Pulled Pork: This should honestly come with a warning label because I will be thinking about it for days. Creamy mac paired with smoky pulled pork is simply unforgettable.
– Dirty Tots: A glorious, chaotic pile of toppings that works perfectly. Crispy, messy, and delicious.
The entire space feels like a hangout for people who love great food, fun fandoms, and good company. If you haven’t been, go. If you have, you already know. The Back Porch is truly incredible.

We just came here for the first time tonight. We chose this place based off of the reviews and boy did it not disappoint. We tried the pulled pork sandwich, the crispy chicken sandwich, the burger, the loaded tots, and the Mac attack with tri tip. The bread and buns were all super soft, the meat was all delicious and tender, and the BBQ sauce is phenomenal. The Mac and cheese was so creamy and not overpowering. The fries are the perfect crispiness and the homemade ranch is amazing. You won’t be disappointed!!

Best sit down restaurant we have been to in a while in this genre. If you are looking for something chill, fun, family friendly, the staff is amazing, super welcoming, zany nerdy and fun. Food was great! Portions were decent. Prices were reasonable. Comic book characters and toys and life size this and that. Got our order perfect and made great accommodations for the fsct that we had little kids. Easy restaurant to miss, but dont miss it if you ever have the chance to go, take it! A bit spendy if you are expecting fast food prices, but they are 10x better than fast food. The place isnt that big, not much seating inside, but it will be worth your while to go. Once in a lifetime experience.

My hubby and I heard there was a new restaurant in West Salem and we couldn’t wait to try them. They are located in the old Azul’s Taco House. This new place is an adventure for the eyes with so many interesting fun things to discover. It’s a literal salute to pop culture and it’s awesome!!
The owner, who took our order, was so nice and helpful.
The menu is very limited but it appears they have some staple items and then some changing items as well. They also have specials. Everything is homemade, including the salad dressing. Their dill ranch is a little thin but very delicious.
My hubby had the Philosopher sandwich with fries and a drink for $17, which he said was very good. My son had the kid’s pulled pork slider with fries and a drink for $7. He also really liked his meal. I had the 1/2 rack of ribs with their spicy BBQ sauce, the corn salad, and a drink for $20. The ribs were just okay. They were tender but really fatty. The spicy Bbq sauce was good. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the corn salad. I was really excited to try it after reading some of the reviews. But it was just okay. I probably wouldn’t order it again. Because of my food experience, I would give them 4.5 stars but you can’t give 1/2 stars and they were definitely way too good to give them only 4 stars.
I like this place so much, I feel bad that I wasn’t as crazy about my food as my hubby and son were about theirs. But this just means I need to try their other food. The fries were really good and there are other sides to try. Everyone has different tastes. I will definitely give them another try.
There’s also an outdoor patio to enjoy a nice meal in the great weather.

I’m so happy a place like this opened in Salem. The food, service and atmosphere is exactly what a nerd like me would love.
The comics and action figures lining the wall immediately tells me that the owner connects with people like me. I walk into this place and it makes me will like a happy child again.

I ordered a House BBQ burger but asked for it to be served without a bun and on a side salad others ordered a burger, a smoked pulled pork sandwich, and Mac & Cheese. All perfect!
The atmosphere is not fancy but more like going over to your chef friend’s place. There are lots of cool posters on the wall, a Spider-Man figure climbing the wall, and a ton loads of little figurines that I imagine are for playing D&D games. There’s a very nice patio out back for nice weather dining.
The number one thing to know is the food is really good!!!

We went and ordered 5 pulled pork sandwiches, 2 fried chicken, 1 philosopher, and a kids burger. It took about 30 mins to get all our food which really wasn’t that bad. It came out piping hot and the fries and ranch were amazing. The corn salad top notch.
The kids burger was a great portion and the kid loved it.
I was eyeing the wings on the menu and will be back to order those next. The pricing seems very fair and if they are good I’ll definitely have my new wing place for football season.

I was hankering for some good grub and decided to give The Back Porch a try.
Absolutely AMAZEBALLZ! From the customer service and perfectly cooked and shaped pasta, to the fork tender, flavorful, and juicy burnt brisket ends. I feel like I may need confession after this one as I was having several impure thoughts during consumption.
Seriously folks, do not hesitate!
*side note: they were having issues with their card reader services and graciously offered to give me the meal on the house. I opted to dine in and wait for the issue to hopefully be resolved. That’s some customer service right there!

New to Salem, so first time eating here. Both guys were extremely friendly and welcoming. Wasn’t sure what I wanted so I just asked them to surprise me. The cook decided he was gonna make something off the menu. Although he promised to make it spicy and it wasn’t, unless it was and I didn’t notice ♂️, but either way phenomenal. Will definitely be back.

Great little place for good bbq. I love their burnt ends and mac and cheese. They come in full portions or half, both options very filling. Their brisket, which is also delicious, is available on Fridays and Saturdays. Seating is limited, but they do take out. They have specials too. Last time I went, they had ‘Russian roulette’ fries which is pretty much chef’s choice on toppings – and it was delicious
