This is quite possibly one of the worst cookouts and fast food restaurants I’ve ever been too. Every single time the severs are really rude which I’ve never experienced anywhere else but honestly tonight was the worse experience I’ve maybe ever had.
Every time I’ve gone it’s gotten progressively worse to be honest and tonight was frankly my last visit. Went by tonight ordered some food and two milkshakes: one Oreo, one banana pudding. Got to the window. They hand us one. I said oh..we ordered two milkshakes? They say “we’re out of bananas” I say “I’m sorry what?” Because tbh I couldn’t actually understand what she said and she rudely said “we’re out of bananas tonight” and I said “why couldn’t you tell me that when I ordered? I would have ordered something different?” And SHE CLOSED THE WINDOW IN MY FACE. I’m someone who has worked retail and food service so I truly try to be kind and respectful to everyone and they were so rude to me? Also both of our food items were very burnt. I’m just so sad and disappointed. It was a very reasonable hour to go as well, it was not right when they were closing etc. I used to love cookout but this specific location seems to just be a sad ghost of what it should be. I’d rather have Pizza Hut back at this point.

I visited the Cook Out on Old Long Beach Road in Southport and had a very disappointing experience. The employee taking my order was impatient, repeatedly interrupted me, and seemed frustrated that she could not understand my speech. At pickup, she made disapproving faces, handed the food out without a word, and responded to my polite “Have a good day” with a hostile tone.

My order was simple: two of the same sandwich with fries, but different drinks. I ordered a Coke and received a Diet Coke, which had a chemical taste and immediately upset my stomach. The second drink order (Mr. Pibb and a small vanilla shake) was correct.

My hamburger was undercooked and very pink inside. It was extremely greasy—so much so that grey grease soaked completely through the bun, making it inedible. The fries in my order were small broken pieces, very greasy, soggy from being cooked in oil that was clearly too cold, and completely unseasoned.

By comparison, the second order was prepared correctly. That burger was fully cooked, far less greasy, and the bun was not saturated. Their fries were properly cooked, seasoned with seasoning salt, and the portion was noticeably larger.

Because I often pay for meals for myself and others, this experience doesn’t just lose one customer—it loses several.

I hope the restaurant addresses the following:

1. Customer service concerns, including:• Rudeness and impatience at the order window
• Interrupting customers
• Negative facial expressions and unprofessional behavior at pickup

2. Food preparation issues:• Undercooked and excessively greasy burgers
• Fries cooked in oil that is too cold
• Lack of seasoning and inconsistent portion sizes

This was the worst fast‑food meal I’ve had in years, and it raises concerns about both training and quality control. Experiences like this make it clear why the food prep area is blocked.

It seems they are the staple fast food in the Southeast of US, but the chain stops in Maryland and so we must try. Four stars for the Reese’s Cup milkshakes. Creaminess that oozes down your body to cool you off and the wonderful taste of peanut butter with cream. Onion rings are b good, too. I preferred it over the fruits. The cowboy burger comes with enough slaw, bbq sauce and a perfect size to not feel bloated.

This place is a fast food barbecue style type of place that sells I don’t blame sandwiches and ribs and burgers and stuff like that. They have really good shakes and a lot of selection for that. The food is okay. The service at this location was not great and we did have to wait a while on the drive-thru.

No inside seating.

$25 for a “double burger” where the meat is literally as thin as 2 folded napkins and the size of my finger??? Never again.

In comparing this to fast food or other Cookouts; this is new, clean and efficient. Food is consistent with cookouts quality. Also, I’ve always loved that I can get a corn dog as a side.

Stopped in after work, ordered a double tray, burger, corndog and wrap with a shake, got up to the windows and all I got was the corn dog, wrap and shake. Food quality has definitely gone down since they opened.

I grew up in Greensboro, NC eating Cook Out countless times lunch, dinner and late night. I was very excited to see a Cook Out coming to our Small Town. I’ve now tried this new one 4 times and I can’t say I am impressed at all. I know times are tough for restaurant owners but this is northing like it used to be. The burgers are significantly smaller in size, sides are constantly under cooked and/or cold. You used to need extra napkins because the sandwiches would be over flowing with toppings. Now I’m lucky to get enough to cover the burger. On a positive note the shakes are still as good as always and make it worth the stop when that’s all you want.

Assuming there was some rushing going on because the other three beef quesadillas didn’t look like this.
