My wife and I love coming to The Alcove, and our most recent visit reminded us why it’s one of our favorite spots in Mount Vernon. The atmosphere is upscale, classy, and perfect for a date night or special occasion.

Our server, Lindsay, was outstanding. She was friendly, professional, and genuinely attentive. She made great recommendations and really added to the experience. My wife ordered the Jenny Juice and I had the General Washington. Both cocktails were excellent and perfectly balanced.

For dinner, I went with my go-to, the massive two bone pork chop with asparagus and whipped potatoes. It’s always cooked perfectly. Very juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The sweet glaze pairs perfectly with the savory pork. My wife had the scallops with butternut squash, and both were tender, flavorful, and beautifully plated.

We were celebrating our anniversary, and when we mentioned it, Lindsay congratulated us and surprised us with a complimentary dessert. We chose the crème brûlée, which was delicious and the perfect way to end the meal.

Everything about our visit was top notch. The food was fresh and timely, the cocktails were great, and even the bathrooms were spotless. The Alcove continues to impress us every time. Definitely one of the best fine dining experiences!

Super delicious food! Hannah, our server, was on top of it and had everything to our table when we needed it. They even gave us a free dessert for our anniversary

We decided to try the Alcove for lunch. It was our anniversary and we wanted to stay local. We were pleasantly surprised, from the greeting when we walked in, to the staff that took care of us during our dining experience (thank you, Joey for ensuring our visit was great). If you get a chance stop by and have some lunch!

It was our first visit to The Alcove to celebrate my husband’s birthday yesterday. We live in Mansfield but had never made the drive. We’re so glad we went! The atmosphere is cozy and elegant, the food was absolutely delicious (salmon Oscar and scallops), and our service from Benjamin was top-notch! Our usual fine dining go-to has been Hudson & Essex but we’ve found strong competition! Thank you for making a 60th birthday celebration memorable!!

We shared oysters on the half shell, poached pear salad and miso glazed sea bass and it was incredible. The detail and intentionality of layering flavors, we savored every bite. We finished off with a dense chocolate torte, crème brûlée and coffee.
The mood was relaxed and luxuriously cozy. Our top notch server Aspen was informative, warm and welcoming. Thank you for an amazing experience.

The food was absolutely fantastic! We went with family to celebrate 2 birthdays, and were very pleased with the cocktails we ordered right off the bat. We had quite a few questions, since I’m gluten free and the options aren’t specifically marked. It turned out that a large number of items are naturally gluten free, and quite a few other items can be customized to meet those needs.

The crab dip was incredible, and the bread crumbs that normally go on it were able to be put on the side so that my companions could have the extra crunch with their dip.

The gluten free bread is the best I’ve ever had, and I asked about it so that I could figure out a way to have it at home.

Our server was attentive without being intrusive, she truly made the entire meal a better experience!

Our steaks and sides were fabulous, and the maple dressing for the salad might be my new favorite dressing.

Our desserts (Basque cheesecake, peach crisp, chocolate torte, and creme brulee) were all top notch as well! Everything was so incredibly perfectly timed and looked so good that I totally forgot to take pictures, but it was all presented beautifully as well.

The only thing I can think of to note as less than 5 stars is parking, but that’s not the fault of the restaurant. It’s a quaint, Main Street type area, so street parking is what’s available and depending on what’s going on it can be tricky. Even so, we were able to find a spot close enough by that even though it was frigid out, the walk was not bad at all!

We’ll most definitely be back. My family members that are regulars were absolutely not exaggerating when they said it’s one of the best restaurants they’ve ever been to!

We rented the room upstairs for a special party. The smaller room was very nice and could hold around 20 people. There was a bar and restrooms located on that level. Our party of 10 got many of the menu options. Their menu do change according to the season. Our server, Bri, was excellent. She was very polite and efficient. We got a variety of appitizers; smoked salmon boursin, oysters, shrimp cocktail, oysters rockefeller, mushroom phyllo, and ricotta arancini Our main dishes; French onion soup, Wedge salad, Ceasars salad, 7oz filet, salmon Oscar, prime rib, and crispy chicken sandwich We also got red and white wines, dirty martini, espressos martini, and George Washington. They do have a full bar on the main floor.

While on a work trip, we were told to check out Alcove. It did not disappoint. Appetizer was great (Oyster Rockefeller). Entree was some of the best seafood I’ve had (Miso-glazed sea bass), and the peach crisp was a great finish to the meal. Our server Hannah was wonderful. Friendly, timely, and able to recommend drinks and entrees. If you’re in the area, go have a meal here!

I would recommend this restaurant to those with and without dietary restrictions—at least if you’re gluten free. I’ve eaten there before and after I’ve received my prescription diet, and I’ve had a great experience every time. The server was knowledgeable to my dietary needs, and reassured me every time I anxiously asked if something was GF. They even had gluten free rolls—AND they didn’t have a weird texture or taste! I had no illness after eating there. They have great selections on every part of the menu, including dessert, that’s GF. Would highly recommend!

We spent the afternoon shopping and had planned to go back to the hotel to change for dinner at the Alcove. Our last shop for the afternoon was next to the Alcove. As we were checked out and chatted, the sky opened up. Several blocks back to the hotel did not seem like an option. We made a dash for the restaurant. I was concerned that we were slightly under dressed. The hostesses were friendly and very welcoming-even in our “shopped all day, caught in the rain” condition.
The decor is just beautiful. As we were seated, we began to anticipate a wonderful experience. The Alcove staff did not disappoint. From our cocktails and appetizers to the main course and dessert, our entire dining experience was on point. The filet was perfectly prepared and our server, Faith, delivered excellent, professional service. Thank you for the lovely evening.
