I ordered Thai fish cakes, Chicken wings in garlic sauce, Sesame Prawn toast, Chicken Phad Thai and Pork Moo Nam Tok.
The fish cakes as seen below are processed, frozen and most probably reheated in the microwave with a rubber like texture. This goes far beyond unacceptable. £8 for processed fish paste is disgraceful and misleading, false advertising even. Given the choice who in their right mind orders a processed dish from an “Authentic” takeaway. The only thing I maybe wrong on this is the brand.
Speaking of processed the pork had no texture apart from that again resembling a bouncy ball. It was this pork dish that had the only traditional Thai profile flavours from those I ordered but as the picture shows the sauce that in their photo clings to the dish in fact resembles a brown pool of water in mine.
It was the best of a bad bunch however.
The garlic sauce was over reduced soy sauce, whilst the chicken wings were the freshest item I tasted which doesn’t say a lot.
Lastly anyone who loves Phad Thai knows it’s far more than soy sauce and noodles but unfortunately along with some chopped nuts and a wedge of lemon (not lime) along with the fact the chef caught the pan so the dish had a bitterness running through it, it was unfortunately a soggy state of affairs.
How this ok? How can takeaways get away with serving processed food presenting itself as fresh and authentic?
If you’re ok with this then carry on, it didn’t make me ill just sick to the stomach that this is being passed off as “Authentic”
We ordered quite few in their menu thinking that it is going to be a similar experience with other Thai places. Well we were surprised when they called us out for our orders as how big the serving was. An order is good for 3-4 people, 2 if you are HUNGRY.
It is also affordable and good priced! We got 2 coconut rice, prawn pad thai, sizzling beef, pork red curry, 5 coconut juice and a bottle of water for £40!
And the owners (Thai couple) are lovely.
Don’t be fooled by their small place! This place is a go to for Thai food!
