We had the best birthday at Thai Pothong! All the staff is so lovely and welcoming since the very beginning. We ordered the Pad Thai, which was the best we had in a long time. Very authentic and you could taste it was home made, the sauce was not too sweet. We also had the yellow curry and we loved it!! Very comforting and not too spicy. And then to finish they brought an ice cream cup and sang happy birthday!!! Such a nice surprise. We loved it here, would definitely recommend it!

If you live in Sydney Thai Pothong restaurant is a must-try. In the 3 times or so I’ve been here the food and service have never failed. If you come in peak hour and without booking there might be some wait but they usually process it really fast (less than 30mins) compared to many other restaurants. They always greet and serve you with warm and polite attitude. The restaurant has huge capacity and comes with great design and decors so even when the restaurant is packed with people, it does not feel chaotic and you can still fully enjoy your personal space. The food tastes exquisite and delicate, and their variety of options from entree to drinks and desserts is excellent and complements each other very well. A special note for their staff attitude as they greet you on the way in and also on your exit all the way until you are out of the restaurant. A very fine detail that they clearly pay attention to. This restaurant is a perfect blend of great food, professional service and outstanding atmosphere. Can say that family and I will be back in the future.

Thai Pothong is an institution that has stood the test of time when it comes to Thai food in Sydney. Our dining experience was a memorable one. We were served by Oat & Team, who entertained kids in our group with balloons and attentively looked after all our dietary needs. We went for the Vegetarian Phi Phi banquet which was great value with 4 entrees, 5 mains plus 1 dessert. The food was delicious. We started off with drinking coconut and mango beach mocktail. We really enjoyed the veg duck salad, the bbq soy slices, veg chicken satay, veg golden egg, green curry, chilli basil veg chicken. We finished with mango sorbet, fried banana and the amazing golden pandan delight. The ambience reminded us of Thailand as the restaurant is decorated with artefacts and curios. Would definitely recommend.

If you like Thai food, then you haven’t lived until you’ve eaten here. This place has been here for 30 years, with some of the staff here for 20 plus years, and there is a reason for that and also a reason it is full everynight.
My wife is Thai, so I have a experience with Thai food and i can honestly say this, to date, is the best Thai dinning experience we have had.
Not only is the food on another level, the staff are very friendly and the service is exceptional.
We always go for a bit of everything including deserts, and never disappointed with anything on the menu.
Ask for a tour of the downstairs area, and yes everything in the photos is for sale.
Always busy, so make a booking.
Several parking stations a short walk away.
Very family friendly.

My favourite dishes are the Green Curry Chicken, Penang Red Duck Curry, Chicken Cashew Nut and the soft shell crab salad. All so authentic and tasty!

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The employees were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made me feel genuinely welcomed. The food was absolutely delicious every dish was full of flavour and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a special occasion. I celebrated my birthday here, and they even surprised me with a thoughtful gift! It made the afternoon even more memorable. Truly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. Highly recommend!

Really enjoyed the food here! The black pepper soft-shell crab was super crispy and flavorful, the curry rich and creamy, and the stir-fried seafood full of wok aroma. The BBQ platter was smoky and juicy — loved the pork neck and the dipping sauce. Great balance of flavors, friendly staff, and cozy vibes. Definitely one of the better Thai spots around!

As soon as you go into the restaurant you feel you are in Thailand. The place is full of gold statues, ceramics and other objects making the moment very special. Food was incredible and fast service, full of taste. The service was spectacular and even more because I was celebrating my birthday.
