A dear friend of mine told me this eatery was now “under new management” and that she ate there and enjoyed it. So finding myself free for lunch I decided I would give it a try.
I was surprised to see it buzzing, with many tables full and a new energetic vibe! Several local business owners were there a few from Indian Creek CC, and Irvington too.
There are lunch specials, as I recall $10. Included was a veggie soup , entree and a dessert. I had the Chicken and Cashews w veggies. It was served in a broth- like sauce.. the soup was all veggie and seemed cabbage based. Both were well presented and served by a very cute and charming Asian waitress . The portions were ample and the ingredients appeared fresh. The desserts were a bit unusual to me, but I didn’t try the rice pudding (which might have been a less daring choice for me).
The restuarant was gathering more patrons as I left and I was happy to see people trying the newly reworked restaurant. I wish they’d offer more sample plates to figure what suits your tastes best ..and some kind of noodles on the table to munch on would be a wise addition .. but hey it’s new and developing! Try it for yourself!!!

Pho is delicious! We get the vegetarian, which has a well flavored broth. Bowl size for price is small in comparison to other pho restaurants. The food has been consistently flavorful! Service is good ; food is prepared to order, and the wait can be a bit longer than desired.

Great food and friendly service, we stopped in from out of town and had a great experience! It was very nice to have some Thai food in Kilmarnock. The fresh flowers on the table were an elegant and caring touch.

My son and I had heard great things about the Thai Pot so we decided to try it last night. We love Thai food and eat Thai food regularly so we know and appreciate good Thai food. The Thai Pot has a wonderful decor and ambiance and the food is excellent but the portions are the smallest of any Thai food restaurant that I have experienced. The hardest thing to do for any restaurant is to serve really good food with great service and the Thai Pot has done a great job with that. However if you have a healthy appetite then you will find the portion size very disappointing. My son and I both thought we were accidentally served appetizers rather than meals…..the portion size is really that disappointing. I don’t think the owners realize how popular their restaurant could be and how much more business they could do if they simply addressed portion size. They have done everything else right but that. I would give the Thai Pot 5 stars if the portion size were bigger. We will not be going back until this has been addressed.

This restaurant has passed through numerous owners over the years, so ignore old reviews. As of June 2021, it is again under new management and has been renamed Thai Pot Pho, to indicate they offer both Vietnamese and Thai food. Four foodies from Northern Virginia enjoyed dinner here in July 2021. Three ordered three different Pho dishes and the fourth ordered Panang Curry with chicken. Every dish was excellent as were the appetizers of spring rolls and calamari. Service and presentation were very good. Highly recommended.

Service was cool, it was pretty empty. This place is not kid friendly. My 2 year old child broke a glass here. Just use the Styrofoam cups with lids. They don’t have many vegetarian options. And they charged like they did. The curry I ordered was such a small portion I see pictures of large some small. Bias maybe? I don’t know.

The taste: It’s regretful we had to rate poorly. I don’t like to do that. It’s so bland. It taste cheap. Store brought frozen food then reheated. I cook myself. I could do better. I was so disappointed in the meal. I could not finish the pineapple rice. The curry just sweet from white sugar.

Good news is my children liked it. So they were happy. Which made me happy. The tea, so bitter only white sugar no honey as an option.

I also smelled a sewer smell for some reason. It was towards the front , and when ever Makala would come from the back it would bring the smell
I am not saying it was her. Maybe because the bathroom was right there.

All the signs pointed to us not going. But I didn’t listen to my gut. As you enter your gut should tell you. My gut said blah. I’m sorry gut. Her name is brain 1.
The atmosphere regular. Like a Chinese buffet. I’m so regretful again I have to leave this. 🙁 again good news my children liked it. Which made me rate it 2 stars. Plus 1 more because when we requested more broth they gave it to us. I would rate it 2, if my children didn’t eat it. Peace.

UPDATE: Change rating from 5 to 3 stars. My previous review was for Thai Pot Shabu which we loved. Thai Pot Pho is the same location but under new management/ownership. We have been in one time for dinner. The wait staff is friendly but our meal was just okay. They do have some kinks to work out and hopefully by now they have made improvements. For instance, when we went in, they only had a couple of menus … seriously, like 2. Not a big deal. I ordered the pho and it looked delicious but lacked flavor. I had chicken pho, it came with a small amount of bean sprouts, basil and lime. My husband had the beef in oyster sauce, he said it was alright. Since then, when we pass by, the place seems crowded so hopefully they have improved.

Great food, great prices! We have been here twice for dinner. Each time our experience was wonderful. Friendly and attentive staff, great prices on food and adult beverages. The bar area is comfortable and inviting. Portions are generous. The place is clean and well run. For our little town, Thai Pot – Shabu is a real gem.

The food is consistently delicious at Thai Pot! Especially recommend the Bean appetizer. Reasonably priced wine. Tan, the owner, is very gracious and the clientele is primarily local people who have enjoyed her restaurant and hospitality over ~10 years.
