I was so excited to try this place. We love Thai food and the reviews seemed great.
We were seated right away and our server seemed super sweet and brought water out right away. A few minutes later she came back and took our order. Tom Ka soup, Pad Thai and Red Curry. Then we waited – our server never came back to check in with us although she was serving the table next to us. I finally flagged her down to ask about our soup. She said it would be out in a few minutes. 15 minutes later, for a total of 55 minutes – it finally arrived.
The soup was okay but it was salty and had a lot of woody stem (that I had to spit out). The Pad Thai didn’t taste quite right. The red curry was pretty good.
Maybe it was just bad luck but we won’t be back. There are too many great Thai options in the area where the food is better and the service much faster. 55 minutes for soup is not acceptable – especially during off season.
Our journey commenced with the expert guidance of our server, Qui, whose knowledge and enthusiasm illuminated the menu. With her insightful recommendations, we embarked on a culinary adventure that would tantalize our taste buds and leave a lasting impression.
The star of the evening was undoubtedly the Drunken Noodle, a dish that danced with bold flavors and vibrant ingredients. Its perfect balance of spice and savory notes elevated it to a culinary masterpiece, leaving us longing for just one more bite.
But before delving into the main course, we indulged in an array of appetizers that set the stage for what was to come. The pot stickers, delicately pan-fried to golden perfection, burst with savory fillings, while the spring rolls offered a delightful crunch paired with refreshing flavors. And let’s not forget the crispy spicy fried wings, a symphony of heat and crunch that left us reaching for more.
As we savored each bite, we couldn’t help but appreciate the ambiance that enveloped us. The tranquil atmosphere, complemented by soothing music, provided the perfect backdrop for our culinary journey, allowing us to unwind and savor every moment.
In conclusion, Thai in Town is not just a restaurant; it’s an experience. From the impeccable service to the exquisite flavors, every aspect of our dining experience exceeded expectations. As we bid farewell to this culinary gem, we left with memories that will linger long after our vacation in Myrtle Beach has ended. Thai in Town has undoubtedly earned a place on our list of must-visit restaurants, and we eagerly anticipate our next visit to this culinary paradise.
Review #2 – We went back, this time bringing our adult kids, and everyone left happy. We are originally from Northern Virginia, where there are many highly rated Thai options, and our kids now live in Boston, which also has no shortage of great choices.
We ordered gyoza, siu mai, pork spring rolls, beef stew noodle soup, pad Thai, pad see ew, basil eggplant, and pineapple fried rice. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Portions are generous.
We also want to give extra kudos to the restaurant for handling a situation the right way by not serving beer to our age appropriate kids who had forgotten their IDs. That kind of responsibility and professionalism matters, and we truly appreciate it.
We will absolutely be back.
