Had dinner at Thai House – University and it delivered exactly what a neighborhood Thai spot should.
We ordered the Basil Fried Rice with chicken (added a sunny egg on top), Pad Thai, and the beef skewers.
The basil fried rice was the standout. Great wok flavor, rice wasn’t soggy, and the egg with crispy edges tied everything together perfectly. I ordered medium spice — just right for me, although my wife felt the heat immediately. Thai medium is not American medium, so order wisely.
The Pad Thai was solid and balanced — not overly sweet, good noodle texture, generous portion. The beef skewers were tender with nice char and paired well with the peanut sauce.
Service was friendly, food came out hot, and portions were generous.
Now for my slightly controversial take: in my experience, Asian restaurants are almost never 5-star places. The magic zone is 3.5 to 4 stars. That’s where you usually find the most authentic, no-frills, flavor-first cooking. If a place is too polished, something is probably toned down. Thai House sits right in that sweet spot.
Would absolutely come back.

We went to Thai House University for my aunts 75th birthday because she wanted a whole fish (red snapper). The sweet and sour sauce on it was amazing! She enjoyed every bit of it! The appetizers were delicious. All the rest of our main dishes were great. The customer service was so nice. They even brought us a cake server and plates and spoons for a cake we brought in. It was an all around wounderful experience. If you are thinking about going, just go! You will love it!

We came here for a double date with friends and it was my first time visiting this establishment. We ordered 3 dishes to share and looks like I found my go-to Thai spot in Charlotte! The drunken noodles were delicious, savory and a touch of sweetness. The eggplant stir fry with pork was as good as dad makes it at home for me and he ran his own Chinese restaurant. The curry flavor was good, but the beef was kind of dry. We also ordered summer rolls that were delicious! Overall, a 8.5/10 and will come back again!

One of my all-time favorites – I love this place. I found this place while in college and it filled a massive need in my life – the ability to unwind.
With an inauspicious exterior, one would never anticipate how peaceful and warm it is in the interior.
Serene music, elegant wood carvings, friendly staff, oh and.. tasty food.
I have yet to order it, but will one day order the duck dish as I fondly remember the serving staff escorting out the dish while “quacking”.. such charm.

Their lunch specials are a great deal! They come with soup and a spring roll, and are a more affordable option. My favorite is their soy sauce noodles. They are these wide flat noodles that are deliciously chewy with a what tastes like a great beef flavor to me. The pad Thai is decent, not the best I’ve ever had though. For dessert, the mango sticky rice with coconut milk is soooooooo amazing!!!

We were seated promptly and service was quick. The restaurant is very beautifully decorated with a lot of wood detailing.
The panang curry sauce was very good. Chicken was a bit dry. I liked that it came with white rice that I could mix the sauce into. Mild spicy already had a very good kick to it.

We absolutely loved this place! Great authentic Thai food. The staff was kind and attentive. The decor was very cool and the food was top notch! We got the massaman curry, it had lots of potatoes and peanuts. Also got the cashew chicken which was lovely with the peppers and sauce.

Me and my office colleagues planned to meet here for dinner, the place was partially filled for dinner service.. we ordered spring roll, shrimp appetizers, and everyone ordered their entree. Food was good, very delicious and good quantity for the price point.. the service was good, although it could have been better (room for improvement), atmosphere is good.
