I’ve been coming to Thai Basil Sushi II for years and it’s the most predictably delicious food in town. The atmosphere is perfect for locals, students, and visitors alike.
The owners are wonderful, the kitchen staff are committed, and have never had anything but excellent service, delicious food, and great wine.
Once you find what you really like, ask for the chili paste and crushed red pepper to heat up your dish to your liking. Thai food covers all the bases with sweet, sour, salty, and bitter, and you can adjust any dish to your liking.
The salads, soups, and all entrees are hot and made to order. I have never had a dish that I wouldn’t have again. The atmosphere is relaxed and it’s a great place to catch up with friends and introduce others to something they may have never tried. My friends are always saying, “How have I never had this before?!” and they happily return with me whenever they’re in town.
Any negative reviews you read here are from people looking to have a bad experience. We all know people like that.
Enjoy what these lovely people have to offer Tuscaloosa. They’ll do everything they can to make your experience the best possible.

Very good Thai food. I expected the Drunken Noodle to have a bit more heat to it, but other than that the flavors were there. The serving size is huge, and the price of the meal was reasonable. Service was just a little slow, but they were packed with people.

One of my favorite restaurants in Tuscaloosa! The atmosphere, the service, the food! Wow! The Panang Chicken is the best you ever put in your mouth. And the Crème Brûlée is better than any I’ve had in nice restaurants all over the world! The owners are from Thailand so really know how to make it authentically. Their kindness is superb as well!

I had an excellent Thai chicken dish, and also took takeaway for my mother. Mine was delicious and very fresh, although I need to ask for the more spicy next time. My mother greatly enjoyed her Thai chicken noodles. Will definitely be back! The restaurant is in a very cool old historic building, however, it is quite loud when the dining room is packed. There’s a good sign that they are busy however.

We’ve been here many times with lots of friends, and no one has had a bad word to say. Very friendly and attentive. Plenty of comfortable seating and a great selection on the menu. Their Thai food is phenomenal and their sushi fusions are creative and delicious. Always love coming here.

This was some of the best Thai food we’ve had recently. We wish it was in the city we live. We got Pad See-U and Panang Curry. Everything was very flavorful, the restaurant was nice and clean, and the service was great.

Went for the first time today. It was quiet with only a few people eating. We were seated quickly. The waitress was nice and quick with our order. The food was delicious! There wasn’t a kids menu and the portions were pretty big so be aware of that.

Did an online order while breezing through town on a road trip. Food was ready exactly on time and was very fresh! The best massaman curry I have had!

Many moons ago (circa 2018 maybe?) there was a sushi chef that worked here named Reid. Now, it has been years since we have been, we have moved away, but we talk often about how incredible the sushi he made was. I don’t know where he is now, hopefully still working for you, but I had the best Celiac safe Gluten Free sushi I’ve ever had in my life while we were served by Reid. I realized I never left a review, all these years later, and it certainly warranted one. So, thank you Reid for making an exceptional culinary experience for someone who has a severe allergy.

Wait staff was super helpful and friendly (props to girl from Illinois doing nursing at Alabama). Great food. Curry and pad Thai was very delicious. Highly recommended. A+
