So before you are concerned with the 3 star, I will start by saying I would go back. The 3 start was based on my expectation and experience. Here is my take on this restaurant with the plus and minus.

I was expecting upscale and romantic based on the reviews. I would refer to this establishment as energetic or lively. I don’t think of patrons in ball caps and t-shirts for upscale. Same goes for I dont think of romantic when there isnt even a table cloth and the lights up with a lot of energy going on. So, my recommendation is change that expectation. If you think of it as a great steak to take your friends and enjoy their company – you are on point.

Staff was solid. I guy named Tom was the best. My only complaint here is take a look at the wine picture. Need to teach staff how to pour if it is “upscale”. If it is a really good steak then this is fine. Also, found my water glasses empty a lot. Not a lot of focus here once you get your food. An occasional swing around. I would like to see both wine and water glasses staying full without being asked.

Lots of traffic, also keeps me thinking of “romantic” isn’t correct. Constant movement, lot of staff and patrons to and fro. Not knocking it, just extremely busy and lots of movement. Heck, the whole place stood to sign star spangled banner at 7 pm. That caught me a little off guard and goes back to the energy.

Entertainment was a sax/guitar player. LOVED IT!.

Food was good. Steak was really good, green beans average as well as potatoes. Nothing bad, just not overly flavorful or anything special. Caution – the plate are hot. They tell you this and they even put a napkin on the table to keep it from blistering the tabletop. Not sure why they do this. My wife actually scalded her mouth on the potatoes because of how hot. Again, they warn you but I really thought it wouldn’t be quite so hot. It does keep the food warm. I was told to try the bread pudding by a friend. I did. It was very good as well.

We will be back to give another try. Looking forward to experiencing the patio. But, in my opinion I would not consider upscale or romantic.

Exquisite, romantic, upscale, vibrant, energetic and rustic sums up the Texas Restaurant. Passed by it all the time driving along the 635 for the past 3 years. We finally decided to dine in on a Friday evening, and made a reservation on a whim for 7:00PM. While we checked in on time, despite the reservation, we had to wait approximately 25 minutes (along with other patrons) for our table, but we’d figure this was going to happen after reading all the reviews and how iconic this establishment is. Pretty neat that the live band sang the national anthem and everyone took off their hat, placed their right hand over their heart and sang along. We ordered the NY strip steak and I gotta say, they were seasoned to perfection and cooked perfectly. Also, these NY steaks are probably the thickest cut we’ve ever had at a prime steakhouse, about 2.5″ thick. We order NY steaks over our favorite cut, ribeye, when we’re not as hungry and because the cut is generally smaller. But man, we finished 3/4 of our steaks and took the rest to go. There is a kids menu, but it’s not published and your host will tell you what’s available. Our 9 yo son, being the burgeoning carnivore that he is, enjoyed the beef bites, also cooked medium rare, with a side of sweet potato fries. The restaurant is definitely loud, but you’re still able to hold a conversation with one another. The Texas Restaurant is a great venue to dine at for large crowd and special celebrations. Definitely expect to pay to play! Pretty dressy but not everyone dressed up for the occasion. Valet is available but plenty of parking space. If it gets busy, like during our visit, be prepared to walk. Dana was our server and we love her! Very accommodating and understanding to our son’s special needs.

The food was very delicious. The atmosphere was classy, dressy with loud music. Might i add Too Loud. We couldn’t talk amongst each other it was so loud. Love that they gave respect with the national anthem. Reservation was made so there was no waiting. Parking was tight. It was a friday and very expensive, busy restaurant. The Ribeye was cooked very well and so delicious. We however had a issue with a Nat and a fly that took a nose dive into a glass of wine on our table. The waitress kept trying to take my extra fork. I kept it incase I dropped my fork I’d have an extra. I have carpal tunnel in both hands. I drop silverware a lot. There were no excuse me from waitress, would you like more water or tea, she just came between us while we were talking and just pour more water. Well the restaurant is awesome. The food is awesome. Just very very expensive.

The Delmonico (ribeye) steak was the undisputed star of the show—perfectly cooked, incredibly juicy, and fork-tender, easily justifying the slightly higher price point. Don’t skip the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer; it was an explosion of flavor with a satisfying, subtle kick! The Texas Cheeseburger was also a winner, moist, juicy, and delicious. Beyond the top-tier food, the ambiance is fantastic with excellent service and the added charm of live music. It’s the perfect, sophisticated setting for special occasions like anniversaries or birthdays.

We came here to celebrate Valentine’s Day and the location was great. It does get a bit loud but aside from that the ambience is great and attentive service. Hefty price tag though.

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here. I had made a reservation in advance, noting a special occasion and seating preference. We were greeted and wished a Happy Anniversary by the Hostess and they remembered my seating request. Our waitress Dana, greeted us and she knew it was our anniversary. The manager came by and also noted our special day. At the end of the meal, Dana brought us a special dessert with sparklers! Overall, the entire staff made us feel very special. The food, as always, was perfection and we enjoyed the live music. Thank you Texas Restaurant for making our dinner so amazing!

Gets very busy and loud during dinner. The “flash fried” red fish was more “deep fried”. But tasted good. Hefty price tag. Attentive service. but overall nothing special

I’ve been here several times, and the experience remains consistently pleasant. Starting with friendly and cheerful receptionist , Sir Dale’s customer service is always commendable, attentive and sincere. During our most recent visit, the managers even checked on us twice, which we appreciated. Our waiter was a little bit off , I asked for moscato and he comes back and asked if my order was Moscow? And was it red wine ? Anyway , still tipped him but lesser.
We ordered the sea bass with roasted vegetables and sweet potato fries, as well as the filet mignon. For starters, we had the bang bang shrimp.
• The filet mignon was tender and savory cooked perfectly and full of flavor.
• The sea bass was decent, though I’ve had a more flavorful version elsewhere.
• Roasted vegetables were fine but nothing particularly special.
• The sweet potato fries were a hit, I devoured them!
• The bang bang shrimp was on the sweeter side; it would benefit from a better balance of flavors with a bit less sweetness.

Overall, it was a good dining experience. With a few small tweaks to the dishes, it could easily become outstanding.

Didn’t get any pictures of the food. We went for Valentine’s Day and it had a set menu. The food was okay, nothing too crazy to write about, which is disappointing. We each had the filet, both were cooked to our temperature liking, they just lacked flavor. The mashed potatoes were just okay as well. Really neat restaurant, very good service, everyone was pleasant.

We just celebrated my wife’s birthday with dinner at Texas. The evening couldn’t have gone any better. Our waiter, Josh, was personable, helpful, attentive, and not at all more present than you’d want. The perfect balance.

The food was exceptional! We started with the calamari and it was more than enough for two and absolutely delicious. Just the right amount of sauce to give it a great flavor without diminishing the crispiness. For entrees, I had the pork chop which was done to a turn and served with a very tasty, complimentary sauce. My wife enjoyed the Delmonico steak which was melt in your mouth tender and VERY flavorful. She took home a sizable portion to enjoy later, too The sides were all excellent as well.

The atmosphere is interesting and the volume isn’t overbearing. Conversation was easy and comfortable.

I can and do recommend Texas to anyone looking for a delightful evening out!
