If you’re in Hutto, you have to stop by the Texan Cafe. The atmosphere is great, but the service is even better—Becky took care of us and she was excellent!
The highlight was definitely the dessert. We tried two different pies and the flourless chocolate cake, and both were incredible. The pies were great, and the cake was delicious.

Absolutely delicious! I had the bacon cheeseburger with onion rings—so good! The burger was huge, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Onion rings were thick-cut with a great cornmeal batter. He had the chicken fried steak lunch special with green beans and mashers—everything was cooked just right, and the green beans were amazing! Our server was friendly, attentive, and let us enjoy our meal without rushing. We grabbed banana pudding and chocolate silk pie to go, and both were fantastic. Great food, great service, and true Texas charm. We’ll definitely be back!

The chicken fried steak was good but the brown gravy was too rich, should have went with the cream gravy. The trout was satisfactory. The hot apple pie with brandy sauce and ice cream stole the show, so good! The German chocolate pie was very good and not too sweet.

We stopped by on a rainy afternoon for pie and Texan Cafe did not disappoint! Becky helped us and was fantastic! They were extremely busy when we areived but that didnt impact the quality of our service at all. Every staff member worked to help each other and the customers. We asked for recommendation when there were two pies we couldn’t decide between. We ended up ordering the lemon merengue pie peanut butter pie, and the flourless chocolate cake (gluten free). All of them were so good! Highly recommend!

We brought a large group to Texan Cafe & Pie Shop and had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was fun and the service was terrific — our server did an excellent job keeping up with everyone at our table and made the evening really enjoyable.
We tried a variety of appetizers and entrees. The chips and queso were a standout — seriously delicious and highly recommended. The boudin egg rolls and sausage were okay; the BBQ sauce was nice, but the sausage ran a little dry. For mains, the chicken fried steak was the clear favorite at the table. My jalapeño burger had good flavor but was on the dry side. Overall, the meal was fair — nothing bad, but nothing we’d race back for on the entrée side.
Now, the pies… wow. We ordered eight different slices, and every one of them was fantastic. Texan Cafe absolutely delivers on its reputation for incredible desserts. If you’re coming here for pie, you’re in the right place!

The food is really good, I love their fries. They were crunchy and seasoned well. Their burger was great I wish their main menu was more detailed on what’s on the burger. Make sure to ask for mayo if you don’t want mustard right away. The dessert was really great, I recommend the chocolate covered cherry pie, it tastes just like queen Anne candy. The chocolate on top was really good of the pie. The service does need work and the hostess is not really in the front. I do understand that staff is limited now and days so I will let it go. But the service for customers needs work. I speculate/assume that they only give attention more to those they know. Which is understandable but not a valid reason to ignore your other customers. But if you want my final take, don’t stress and bother.

Texan Café is an absolute gem in Hutto! The food tasted just like true Southern comfort—hearty, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I had the meatloaf, and it was hands down the best I’ve ever had—tender, seasoned just right, and served with the perfect sides.
And let’s talk about the pie… the chocolate silk pie was out of this world! Smooth, rich, and absolutely delicious—it was the perfect way to end the meal.
The service was warm and welcoming, and the cozy small-town atmosphere made it feel like home. I’ll definitely be back again and again for more comfort food and pie!

Pies aren’t “homemade” and probably haven’t been since the original owners. I doubt Minnie shared any recipes. Disappointed but not surprised by another business lying to customers for profit. Real Texans Deserve Real Food! Y’all should be ashamed of yourselves! I hope everyone in the community thinks twice before stoping & wasting $ in a place like this. Owner knows he’s in the RED too and has been cutting corners to try and keep the authenticity of the place.

I don’t even know where to start if I can give them 0 stars b/c 1 star isn’t deserving enough. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! If I could have posted the audio and video I would definitely had done so for proof but since I’m unable do that. Last night, I placed my order online and as I proceeded to head to the restaurant to pick up my online order, my GPS said I will make it there at 8:40 PM, which is 10 minutes after they closed. I gave them a call and got a Nathan Thomas on the line to inform them I was on my way, but I was going to be late and I wanted to know what shall I do to be sure that I get my food. He puts me on hold and then gets back on the line and tells me well. Your food is already done. I don’t know what else to tell you because we are not able to give you a refund mind you I just wanted to get my food and let them know that I was late. The refund was the last resort But since he mentioned the Refund that started a whole new conversation because now you’re telling me my food is ready. You don’t know what to tell me if I don’t make it there before y’all before you close so I’m not gonna be able to have no food to feed my two children and I’m not gonna get a refund or my food. Mind you the whole time I’m speaking to him. He said he’s stating that the manager is outside on the phone with the owner when I asked him to put the manager on the phone she refused to get on the phone. Long story short after being hung up on three times I finally make it to the restaurant in the nick of time when I get there I asked to speak to the manager who comes in her name is Julie. Julie approaches me obviously she doesn’t know. I’m the customer that was on the phone. She comes up to me and I let her know that I was the customer on the phone. I didn’t appreciate how I was treated. When all I was trying to do was informed them that I was going to be late and I just want to get my food. The refund was the last option. I was not trying to get my refund. I don’t know what Nathan told you and that’s why I wanted to speak to you directly. Julie looks at me dead in my eyes and tells me she did get on the phone, but I didn’t say anything soon as she finish her statement. I let her know that I was recording the phone call as well as recording this conversation that I was having with her in the restaurant soon as I told her that she rudely walked away, got on her phone. I’m assuming she called the owner because I did make her aware that I will be calling in the morning. Apparently, when I spoke to a Valerie this morning who informed me that they have a manager group chat. So basically, when I spoke to Valerie, she had already chose her side, even though I told her I had audio and video to back up what I was saying was true. She was not interested in that, her words were, what do you want me to do?!! If anything apologize for the rudeness and the first time experience I had with you guys. Not to mention, they made my burger wrong I order well done as you can see from the photos, I got a medium cooked burger. I ordered their BBQ burger meal and it had a drop of barbecue sauce. Again, as you can see from the photos, that’s not what I got.I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN!!!!!! HORRIBLE SERVICE AND BUSINESS!!!!!
