THE ABSOLUTE BEST ITALIAN FOOD IN NEW YORK CITY. My fiancé and I have been going here for 9+ years. The food is always 10000/10. Every pasta is homemade and the sauces are just *perfection* we pretty much always get a special or two because we trust it will always be fantastic. Also huge credit to the owner for always recommending fabulous wine based on what we like. Dessert and a little limoncello at the end never fails! WE LOVE YOU TESTO!!!!!!!

I come from north east Italy. The cuisine is supposed to be north Italian, but I couldn’t quite tell what region. Maybe central northern region?
Overall food was good but not extraordinary.
The waiter was attentive and the service was fast.
We really liked the vibe and the service

We randomly stumbled upon this cozy Italian spot—and the first thing that caught our eye? Happy hour every day from 5–7 PM!
Here’s what we tried:
COZZE IN PADELLA – Sautéed PEI mussels. We went with the spicy tomato sauce, and it did not disappoint—rich, flavorful, and just the right amount of heat. A must-order!
PROSCIUTTO DI PARMA E MELONE – Cantaloupe wrapped in prosciutto with a drizzle of balsamic. This one was just okay for me—the balsamic didn’t quite hit the mark.
TORTELLI DI ZUCCA ALL’OLIO TARTUFATO – Butternut squash tortelli recommended by our server. They looked like little dumplings, and the flavor was beautifully sweet and comforting. Highly recommend!
TIRAMISU – Decent taste with a lovely presentation, though I’ve had better.
Overall, a great find! I’d definitely come back to explore more of their pasta dishes.

Maybe they were having a bad night? But the food here was very mediocre. The pasta was generic and didn’t taste like the usual high quality pasta I’d expect. The fritto misto has flavorless batter and the meat had no flavor. My seafood pasta was just so flavorless and the mussels were small and did not taste good. My friends salmon dish was minimum quality flavor once again.
All around we just thought it was very flavorless and bland food, with low quality pasta

Great pastas, lovely house wines, fair prices. Cozy and unfussy. I miss the sister restaurant Il Passatore SO much, but Testo is a close second. What would make it perfect is if they’d add the old carciofi to the Testo menu!

A secret little hideaway on Leonard Street in Williamsburg. The host, waiter, and bartender were the same person. Thank you Max! You did an amazing job working the room. Your quiet, kind, and patient personality made it such a pleasant experience. Great service, cozy atmosphere and superb food. Kudos to the chef! Can’t wait to visit my family in Brooklyn again so that I can come back here.

Great affordable local Italian restaurant!
Excellent pasta! I had the today’s special- pappardelle with seafood, and it was great!
I didn’t enjoy the piadina very much… I thought it’s similar to quesadilla, but I would rather have the latter, just my preference.

Pretty good! Pappardelle Bolognese was really good (4.5/5) and had excellent meat flavor with very soft obviously handmade noodles. The spinach dumplings were okay (3/5) but were dense – flavor of the sauce is good however.
