We tried this for the first time on Saturday. With regards to parking, this can easily be missed as Google Maps takes you around to the “park” parking as opposed to into the Independence Hotel parking lot, where it shares the location with. The inside is modern and gives a very upscale vibe. It was good weather so we sat out in the atrium which was put together really well, heated and the view was serene.

Food wise, we had a Side Salad, Pacific Rim Chicken Sandwich and the French Dip with a Smoky Mezcal Paloma. The Paloma was SO SMOKY IN THE BEST WAY! The server had asked us before if we wanted it the way it comes because “they’ve received reviews of folks saying it’s too much” — think of their drinks on the same vein as Epilogue — creative, unique and tasty.

Pacific Rim sandwich was a perfect cook on the chicken, the pineapple slaw was bright, fresh and fragrant and was very appetizing. The French Dip was the star of our day though – bun was soft yet firm, the au jus dip wasn’t overpowered with salt and the meat was delicious. The side salad was a sleeper hit too – but wasn’t needed because we were unaware how large the portions were, especially the breaded fries. For the price to food ratio, it was obscene in the best way.

Hands down, pound for pound, this was in our top 3 best restaurants we’ve ever been to, highly recommend them for a date night/intimate outing and intend to go again.

We loved our experience and the food was amazing! Our waiter was super nice and knowledgeable. We got the French Dip, Cobb Salad, and sweet chicken wings! Everything was so delicious! The French dip was done to perfection! The Salmon on the Cobb Salad was great! And their Diablitos Margaritas were so good! We had them tone down the spice and opted for the mango and pineapple flavors. You won’t be disappointed!

Very nice dining experience. A great place to go for a nice dinner date. View of the Willamette from the covered back deck was a pleasant addition to dining experience.

We started with appetizers. The brussel sprouts were amazing and the portion was huge. Could make it a meal all by itself. We also ordered the tamarind spiced wings, which were a disapointment when compared to the brussel sprout dish. Not a lot of flavor in the wings but the addes goat cheese dipping sauce was a pleasent addition to accompany the wings.

For the meal, she ordered the frence dip. The sandwich was superb but was lacking the salty and savory addition of the au jus as custimary for this meal. It was instead served with a rosemary infused oil dipping sauce that was too rich for this sandwich. The smoked gouda, carmelized onions and sauted mushrooms went superbly in the sandwich.

I ordered the triple pig burger for my meal. It was an outstanding combination of pork loin, pork belly, and sweet and spicy bacon. The perfectly toasted ciabatta roll combined with the excellent combination of pork, cheese, slaw and secret sauces, made each bite worth the trip.

Each meal came with fries that were eerily similar to the frozen shoestring fries you make yourself at home. An attempt to uplevel the side was made by adding sea salt and chopped parsley to the fries. They were good but not great in my opinion (wife loved them).

Overall, the meal was priced well for the quality of food and service you receive. Staff was very pleasant and attentive. I would highly recommend a trip to Independence to try it yourself, I dont think you will be disappointed, I know we will be back (I had my eye on the newly added Coq Au Vin or the cajun mac and cheese).

Had the chicken Marsala. Chicken was dry on the inside. Looked like a frozen piece of chicken you would get at McDonald’s. A lot of seasonings on the outside of the chicken but still made the meat bland. As for the noodles they were cooked with a great tenderness and not soggy. Th sauce that was prepared with the noodles you could tell was a prepared sauce mix that only needed heating that drounded out the flavors it was supposed to enhance like the mushrooms. Not pleased. But what do you expect when you’re at a 3 star hotel that is trying to have a 5 star restaurant.

Nestled away in Independence, OR is this fantastic little gem, The Territory restaurant located inside the Independence Hotel.

The service was great. The outdoor patio seating was very cozy with a beautiful view of the Willamette River.

I had the Fall Territory Salad made with roasted butternut squash, slices apples, feta with mixed springs, and grilled chicken.

It was a weekday and they were just opened for dinner so we had all the place for ourselves. I was pleasently surprised by the food quality and presentation. We tried the tuna poke, very good, and the most delicious Brussel sprouts I have had in a long time. Drinks were good as well and staff was very attentive, checking on us frequently. Pricewise, I found it very reasonable for a hotel restaurant. Only odd thing was the handwritten check and the fact that I didn’t get a copy of the credit card receipt (no surprises on my bank statement though.)

The place is all-new, modern looking, with beautiful views of the Willamette river and they have a couple of tables by the fireplace. There is a deck outside that will be a great spot with nice weather. Will definitely be back.

My husband and I really loved this restaurant before they closed for Covid restrictions and their renovation. The covered patio is a nice addition, but could use some gentle fans or misting on the hot days.

My husband and I shared the brussel sprouts (which were our favorite things the last several times we had gone before they closed) and they were tasty, but they changed their recipe a bit to use the fatty chunks of bacon instead of the meaty bacon they had used before. It just wasn’t quite as delicious as it had been before.

My husband had the burger and loved it.

I splurged and ordered the steak with chimichurri sauce, but was very disappointed. The plating was underwhelming (no garnish or anything, just the steak and its juices running down the side which really didn’t look appealing), the chimichurri sauce was good but sparse (the waitress actually brought me more), and the steak was cooked very unevenly (I ordered medium, and probably 20% of my steak was actually medium, 10% was just fat that I literally couldn’t chew nor swallow, 15% was charred solid and tasted like charcoal, and the remaining 55% was medium-well or well-done)…. If it was a good deal for the steak with no sides, that would be one thing, but it was $27! I feel like I wasted that money since I had like 3 bites that actually tasted relatively good, but I would not call it delicious. I did order the lemonade mixed drink and it was tasty. The service was pretty good, but the steak really tainted the experience.

At this point, we will only go back when I’m in the mood for a burger since my husband liked that so well and it was a reasonable price.

There is seating indoors, and outdoors under the Atrium Glass Patio or outer patio tables facing the river. My friend’s burger was over cooked but their gin drink was good. Nice cross breeze when sitting inside and I had to order their Cajun Tillamook Mac n Cheese. It had andouille sausage, bacon, four cheeses and was baked in the oven.
