Located in downtown New Canaan, Tequila Mockingbird offers fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine in a friendly, upbeat, and eclectic setting. We use traditional ingredients whenever possible, importing dried chilis and fresh produce from Mexico, and sourcing meats locally. In 2012, we were among 20 U.S. restaurants certified for “expertise in Tequila and its culture” by the Consejo Regulador Del Tequila. Our bartenders attended “Tequila School” in Jalisco, and our staff has taken classes provided by the Mexican Government. Founded in 1993, Tequila Mockingbird has been a New Canaan favorite for over 25 years. Enjoy your visit!

Very good Mexican restaurant. Fun and festive vibe. Food is very good and goes beyond your traditional Mexican dishes, although they have the standards. Margaritas are great. If you like spicy things their spicy one is great.

We had a mostly wonderful experience at Tequila Mockingbird. The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and served in generous portions.
Our server, Roberto, was pretty amazing. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Truly top-notch service!
Unfortunately, our experience was soured a bit at the end by the bartender, Justine, who rudely told us that a party had been waiting for our table for 30 minutes — while we were still finishing our meal and drinks. This was never brought to our attention prior, so it felt rushed and unnecessary, especially after such a great evening. Wished we could have stayed longer.
That said, we’d definitely return for the food and the excellent service from Roberto. Hopefully, next time the hospitality is consistent across the board.

Great margaritas and they occasionally have chicharones. Classic Mexican food and some specialty dishes. My favorite is their spicy steak dish. Carne asada Yucatán. Justine the bartender is very good.

This place is an institution in town as it has been here forever! The food, the drinks, and the staff are all top-notch. Their specials change frequently and are always tasty. The atmosphere lends to a great vibe while dining or just having a cocktail. Worth going to when in town.

I ordered the “vegetarian taco bowl” at Mobile T-Bird, the food truck in Stamford. The food on this page looks beautiful, but I understand some variance since it’s not a full kitchen. What I don’t understand is charging $15 for some raw vegetables, box rice and guacamole. Pretty misleading name, but I don’t know what else you could call this other than “raw toppings,” and that’s rightfully unflattering. I let the manager know how I felt and she offered chips and salsa. I probably don’t need to tell you they were the bare minimum as well.

Good ambience and friendly ppl but the food was just bad. I ordered Mahi Mahi tacos and it was so bad, I felt stomachache after eating that. Also, order a burger which was pretty bad as well. Would return for the drinks but not for the food.
