As always the food was very good and value for money. The service was noteworthy with the flexibility for us to order from another restaurant too. Ambience and the view of the city at night were really pluses to the dinning experience.

One of the best Japanese restaurants in colombo. I tried their maki rolls and Japanese rice dishes and red bean desserts. They were great and absolutely delicious . Staff was very kind and attentive.

Tenkū is an amazing Japanese restaurant! The **maki rolls are absolutely delicious**, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The **rice dons are also really good**, with flavorful toppings and just the right texture. The **atmosphere is fantastic**, with a modern yet cozy vibe. But the highlight? **The stunning view of Colombo!** Watching the city lights from up high makes the dining experience even more special. Definitely a must-visit for Japanese food lovers! ✨

I was absolutely in love with the Spicy Salmon Maki dish (in the picture) and the Ramen at Tenkū yesterday. I’d say the best I have had in Colombo so far. Also ordered edamame, fried tofu as starters and another Maki and Nigiri combo dish. They were quite good too. They gave us an exceptional service. Initially They were bit caught up may be as they had a full house.

I was happy with the ambience and the view too… Overall it was a great food experience for me and I was on cloud 9. Great job guys guys!!

Dinner for 2 on Valentine’s day, we were served mainly by a gent named Mr. Mangala. Service was very sub standard, everything needed to be told at least twice. Getting attention was frustrating. Food took long but once it started coming, dishes were served 2 at a time.

However:

1. Reservation was made 2 days prior and was apparently not logged in. I repeated and asked if I get a text, however they said it’s confirmed and there’s no other way of confirming. But I got to know when I called 30mins prior to reservation to let them know I’m running late, and they said there was no such reservation. Very disappointing.

2. Waited 10 mins after being seated to get attention and had to ask twice to get the menu. I get it, everyone gets busy but this was appalling.

3. Table mats were dirty, we saw the staff rushing to clean the table and maybe didn’t change the mats, not to the standards of a highly reputed hotel.

4. Sushi and Sashimi is amazing. Was our second visit to tenku, just for the sushi rolls and sashimi. Very good, however a third visit is questionable given the experience and service.

5. Waited literally 30 minutes for the Mochi dessert. And they brought the most dried out, hard, nasty tasting ball – almost tasted old and like it was in a fridge for a couple of days. Far from any mochi, it was more biscuit like (pic attached) – let’s not forget I waited 30 mins for that. Luckily the chef was out and I got him to taste it and he agreed that it was off, so thanks Chef for admitting and he said these were prepacked items from Japan and was shocked that it tasted off, and agreed it was unacceptable. And the second mochi dish came in less than 4mins – actual mochi this time.

6. Water was served in a cracked cup and was leaking on the table. Can happen, but it’s just another thing wrong during the visit.

Mr. Mangala, you’re an amazing gent. Apologetic and concerned, but there’s a lot of things that happened that are unacceptable. Junior waiters were very good. But I was far from being pleased especially for the price we have to pay.

Sushi platter was awesome. Maybe the best sushi I’ve had in Sri Lanka. Apart from that, had the Ramen and the Katsu, they were okay. Awesome views from the restaurant, Galle Face green and the skyline is visible from the restaurant. Overall 8.5/10 experience, would recommend just for the Sushi alone.

We went there for a family dinner. Food is authentic and fabulous. We enjoyed each and every item we have selected. Ibi tempura, Dinamite rolls, Shashimi, Sushi are exceptionally well.

Staff is really helpful and very attentive.

It was a weekday so very less crowd.

Good place for a Japanese cousin.
