Tendon Kohaku pays homage to Japanese Tempura and Tendon culture by embodying our dedication to preserving the authentic flavors of ingredients while honoring the rich history and tradition of tendon. Like amber, known as Kohaku in Japanese, preserves the essence of ancient plants and creatures, our brand encapsulates the integrity of this culinary tradition. Each serving of our supreme tendon reflects the ethos of cherishing the past while embracing innovation. Tendon Kohaku proudly stands as a testament to Japan’s delightful tradition of tendon cuisine.

The place is super cute and comfortable to fit the vibes of the traditional Japan. The service was super quick and when we informed them that we like the creamy udon to be warmer. They helped us redo it. The food was pretty good. I definitely enjoyed my hondashi udon and the tempuras especially the anago unagi. They were super crispy and not oily at all. Definitely will go again

Be prepared for a very long wait — when I went, it was around 3 hours, so definitely plan ahead. My friends and I were shopping nearby while waiting, which made it more manageable and not a total dealbreaker.
The food itself was good, but it didn’t quite feel worth the wait. Surprisingly, the desserts made much more of an impression than the savory dishes. The sweet potato crème brûlée was the standout for all of us — seriously so addicting and the most memorable part of the meal.
Overall, enjoyable, but I’d say your expectations should be tempered given the wait time.

Great place to go with friends. Soem dishes were amazing, slightly disappointed by the salmcrispy. (Mostly texture). Wish I had gotten the uni special. Got one piece of uni that was melt in your mouth. Shared plates with friends the beef dish was amazing and the tempura was super light and cripsy. Fabulous service. The sweet potato creme brulee was not too sweet but surprisingly addictive.

The food was delicious and we really enjoyed our meal. I understand that the restaurant was busy and needed to seat other guests. However, we had been seated for less than an hour and still had some beer left and a little food remaining for the kids when the waiter started clearing the table. It made us feel a bit rushed. I hope guests can be given a little more time to relax and finish their meal comfortably.

every tastebud in my mouth is delighted by this food. the value:flavor:satisfaction ratio is off the charts. we have been eyeing this place from afar intimidated by the waiting lines but plan ahead make a reservation and come with an empty stomach you won’t regret it. we had multiple bottles of sake, drinks, multiple appetizers, desserts not pictured it came out to 90/pp which you may think sounds like a lot but it isn’t when you consider the added drinks, desserts, appetizers and the serving size! we left uncomfortably full with zero leftovers!

Amazing tendon spot. The tempura was light, crispy, and not greasy at all. Ingredients tasted super fresh, and the sauce was perfectly balanced. Portions were generous and everything came out hot and fast. Definitely coming back.
Shout-out to server Scott
Scott was fantastic. Super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience smooth and welcoming. Checked in at the right times and had great recommendations. Really appreciated the great service.

Very popular, hard to get a table, long waits, reservations a must but can be booked out a month; must be great, right? Downtown Bellevue location is convenient from nearby hotels and walking distance from Bellevue & Lincoln Square but parking lot is very small and spaces are very narrow. This is America with large SUVs, not compact Daihatsu’s. Expect door dents & scratches. Paid street parallel parking can also be challenging but probably safer from door dings. Tendon Kohaku Bellevue prides itself for authentic Japanese cuisine but waitstaff is not Japanese nor can speak Japanese. Service was friendly, interior is clean including restrooms. After reading about all the hype and waiting for a chance to eat their famous tempura, I was totally not impressed. The matcha tea was very good however, but the tempura was just a fancy presentation with so-so taste. Tuna sashimi appetizer was also so-so. The food is not bad but it’s also nothing to rave about. Dining room is relatively small with moderate noise level. Relatively overpriced and little value for all of the anticipation & hype. Overall so-so and I would not go out of my way to return. There are better options in downtown Bellevue.

We were lucky that we caught the tail end of lunch and were able to get a table without making reservations. This place deficient lives up to the hype. We came here twice while up here in town. We ordered the Beef Steak Aimori Tendon set and Kurobuta Pork Katsu Curry Rice with the omurice added for lunch. The beef steak dish was beautifully presented and excellent. The katsu did was executed well and full of flavor. It’s one of the best katsu dishes I’ve had. We got the Choclat Mont Blac and the Sweet Potato Creme Brulee for desserts. Both were well worth it! On our second visit, we ordered the Black Truffle Grilled Steak Don (with uni on side) and a Carbonara Udon. Again, both of these dishes are well prepared. I just ordered the matcha swirl soft serve for dessert. I can’t wait to come back here again.

Came on Wednesday near opening and it was already packed! Highly recommended to make a reservation. It was my second time coming and I tried the chicken katsu and it did not disappoint! Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, paired with the rich and subtly spicy curry sauce I really loved it. The rice was also great, firm and chewy. Service was great and love the ambience!
