Two chefs and a foodie set out to change the way people eat for the better. Our inspiration? The meals we had when our friends came over. The food. The pairings. The exploration. The energy. And the promise that on any given day we’d eat or drink something we wouldn’t find anywhere else. So we opened Tender Greens in 2006 and started a food revolution.
We start with the best ingredients, cook from the heart and let our food do the talking. No compromises, no matter what. Sustainability is at the core of all the choices we make, from our food to our planet to the future of farming. It’s in our DNA. After all, we’re chefs.

I could eat the food here everyday. It is just delicious, and very healthy. Some favorites: short rib plate, salt and pepper chicken plate, longevity bowl with seabass, Niçoise salad.
Also, the service is impeccable. The team has a culture of caring and professional service.
My kids love this place too!
There is a nice outdoor back patio area as well.

Employees are all super nice and the restaurant is clean and has tons of seating. There’s a cute patio in the back too with plenty of seating. The mac and cheese is sooo good, def recommend! The chicken is yummy but sometimes comes out cold. Crispy potatoes can be amazing and so flavorful. Prices are fair. It’s in downtown Berkeley so parking is limited to street parking and hard to find, would walk or bus here

Always delicious. In addition to having great food that is healthy and fresh, I appreciate that this place takes on board feedback you may have and makes a real effort to provide outstanding customer service—a lost art in many counter order restaurants. After responding to their system’s request to rate my recent experience, I received a personal follow-up from the manager, taking note of the minor issue I had with my order and showing a level of care that was above and beyond the normal level of service I have come to expect elsewhere. First time to visit, our daughter has been swimming oit of the Cal Legends pool with a local team. My wife noticed your establishment when we leave every night going back down University…. But, the parking is usually really bad. Tonight on our way out, I saw a parking spot that I could shoehorn our csuv into and we stopped. The offerings were very diverse and pricing was actually quite reasonable. My wife and daughter split the Sea Bass plate with 2 sides of vegetables and I had the Bolognase Pasta. Both were excellent and the plates were of a decent size compared to almost all of the food places we have eaten in Berkeley. I loved the pasta it was almost cooked perfectly, not too soft like most places cook it and it was very close to perfect firmness (hard to do usually), flavor was excellent, one of best that I have had in a long time with large portions of meat with the shreaded carrots and a side piece of garlic toast. Well done by all, we will return to eat there again soon!

Amazing restaurant. The food is tasty and delish! I love their sea bass dish called longevity salad, the short rib is a must have and their grilled chicken thigh, tomato soup are our go to’s every time. High ceilings and great atmosphere, awesome service. What more could you ask for!

I got a salad delivered from DoorDash here yesterday and it was so good, I was a little shocked. The salmon was juicy and the skin was crispy even, which I never expect since it takes a while to get delivered. After I wouldn’t shut up about it to my husband, we decided to try it in the restaurant today and now we’re both scratching our head at how the reviews are so low on Yelp. He had the steak and I had the salmon again and both were DELICIOUS. The quality of both dishes were something we would’ve paid $30-40 in a nice Napa restaurant. We will definitely add Tender Greens to our restaurant rotation and I’m so glad it’s so near us. We hope this Berkeley location thrives and stays open for a long time.

I love this place. I work nearby and come here all the time! The people who work here are super friendly and amazing. The desserts are surprisingly good. You can also order teas and coffees by the pitcher to share

Friendly staff, quick service — went around 1:30pm on Tuesday and the place was practically empty, but they were busy preparing online orders. They have some seasonal items as well so might check those out next time.
A lot of good + healthy choices, and the restaurant was very clean and well-maintained. I’d say it’s a pretty nice spot for lunch with friends, even to sit and work for a bit!

The greens were quite fresh and tasty with plenty of zesty lemon dressing. The fried chicken plate was crunchy and hearty, although it could be less salty. The seared tuna plate was done just right with thick pieces of pretty fresh fish. I think the prices were very reasonable for the quality and atmosphere
Order at the counter, and they’ll bring out your food. They’ll bus your table afterwards too. $50 for a family of 4, including tip. Not bad!
