Tempura Omakase in heart of Honolulu.
Everything was freshly fried as it is the best to eat when it’s hot and crispy.
The the quality ingredients and friendly service. I have never eaten so many variety tempura. Enjoyed the each piece but I could not help thinking it would have been nice to eat fresh or cooked in a different way especially the ingredients were fresh and good quality.
The restaurant was very spacious plenty of space in between the guests, however, it made difficult to talk to friends as we sat apart from each other facing the counter. We were party of four talking to a friend who sat end made it difficult to have a conversation.

Great vibes, super friendly hosts. Some of them speak mandarin so they explained more and gave us recommendation of sake pairing. It is on the pricier side, fixed menu; overall 5/5 dinning experience.

My wife and I visited for the tempura omakase and it did not disappoint. We had our first tempura omakase in Japan and this was just as amazing if not better. Service was top notch as well. Thank you so much for the experience.

We made reservations here because we love omakase but this was so unique as they offer a tempura omakase. Though most of the meal is fried, the batter is so crispy thin that it never felt heavy and they have palette cleansers throughout the meal that are not fried. The service was excellent and they offer two time slots 5pm or 7pm. The chef is a Michelin chef so it truly did feel like a Michelin experience! Very intimate setting with limited seating. It felt like we were in Japan! Loved every minute of it!

Wonderful service, nice atmosphere, an experience. However, having eaten at Omakase Tempura Wakatake at the Grand Prince Hotel in Tokyo as well as an omakase tempura place in Kyoto this restaurant is not comparable. The tempura was good ,but be prepared that it is different than what you would get with a common set menu at a regular tempura shop..which is fine and expected. Each item is served immediately after cooking. However, some of the items had a sauce on them that completely overpowered the tempura and the item fried. There was too much shaved raw onion in the salad. The sashimi dishes were just okay. There is plenty of food served to satisfy your appetite. Maybe an off night but $400 for two (with no alcohol) , I was extremely disappointed.

Made a reservation through opentable. Overall 10/10 in terms of taste, excellent taste, presentation, and service. The best of what you’d expect of fine dining and service in the top restaurants in Tokyo. The light crispy tempura batter, fresh seafood and vegetables, and aromatic and fragrant oils. Best dishes in this omakase were the snow crab, Hokkaido uni, and shrimp tendon. They were so nice for making a white peach and jelly dessert for our anniversary. About 15 dishes total including desserts.
Main thing to consider is that it is pricey at $160/person before tax and tip. So definitely a splurge occasion.

Hands down the best meal of our last trip to HNL!
First discovered Ichika from a post on IG. The pictures of the restaurant had me sold and knew we had to make reservations which wasn’t too difficult. There is a small lot behind which we luckily scored a spot otherwise, you’ll have to find something on Piikoi or the surrounding area.
As you enter, you are warmly greeted by the hosts and shown your spot on the 12 person boomerang shaped table. Everyone seated is served the same tempura omakase course which was outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed every course and left satisfied. Service was perfect and exactly what you’d expect while in Japan. To be honest, I think the meal was almost as good as our meal at Uchitsu in Tokyo.
Will definitely be back and may try their sushi restaurant next trip out.

We wanted to adore this restaurant, but there were problems. The tempura is well prepared but a very seafood heavy menu. The only vegetable courses were lotus root and maitaki mushroom, which may or may not be considered a veg. The snapper sashimi was excellent. But many dishes were good ingredients not quite achieving greatness because of one or two flaws. Chawanmushi was very fishy with the sweet crab being completely overwhelmed. Snow crab was outstanding, but its accompanying crab miso overwhelmed the niceness of the crab.

We have been trying many sushi Omakase courses recently. It’s our first trying dinner for Tempura Omakase course tonight. Very impressed with the food selection and quality of service.
Not only serve all frying dishes. We also had Sashimi. Ten-don and miso soup too.
Experienced a Very Japanese style dining.
Looks like the menu is defined by each day with the fresher ingredients …
Got to go again to try more often soon.

We loved our dinner at Tempura Ichika. Everything was perfectly prepared, and the flavors were delightful. We loved the sashimi, the tempura crab, scallops, and mushrooms along with the different salts. We would absolutely recommend this dining experience.
