Traveling back to Tennessee on 65 and googled restaurants and picked Ted’s. Im glad we stopped here. We were greeted and seated by Ted. He was very friendly. We ordered breakfast and it was fantastic. The food was hot and fresh. I will definitely stop here again when Im traveling through the area. It is a lot better than the chain restaurants. Thanks Ted, we enjoyed our breakfast.

My cousin comes here on the regular & I’ve been wanting to try them for a while. Fried chicken & country fried steak were pretty good. The dressing & Pastitsio lacked flavor & seasoning unfortunately. Cornbread was pretty dry as well. I’ll be back to try some other things cause I see they have regulars and it’s gotta be for a reason, so maybe it was just an off day.

We were looking for an authentic Alabama lunch experience and found it with Ted’s. We arrived towards the end of the lunch service and found them friendly and welcoming upon entering the space. Free, ample parking, available seating and staff smiles helped us feel at home from the moment we entered. The vegetables were my favorite and immediately took me back to my great aunt’s cooking. Prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend.

Eat local and save the local restaurants! Why go for corporate chain food and bland service when you can have tasty meats and vegetables (tons to choose from)? Just a quick trip past the food to make your selections and then relax…your food and drink are on the way. Get here early. It is full for a reason.

The owner of the restaurant is a jerk. My boyfriend and I have gone here three times for lunch over the past month. Each time we have tipped the waitress cash we already had (and we tip well). The owner asks us at each checkout if we want cash back for the waitress. Each time he charges us an extra 10% anyway after we already left a tip! And he is very rude about it as well. We won’t be back and that stinks because the food is really good. Just the scamming on the ticket is absurd.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ted’s Restaurant, a southern eatery in Birmingham Alabama. The cafeteria-style setup added a touch of nostalgia to the dining experience, and it was a delight to see Ted, the actual owner, actively involved in serving the food and ensuring that guests were having a wonderful time.
I indulged in their famous fried chicken and for the sides, I had brussel sprouts and rice with gravy. I thought my meal was great, it definitely reflects a true southern comfort food. It was a hearty and satisfying meal that left me craving for more.
To top it off, I couldn’t resist trying their banana pudding for dessert, and it was a heavenly treat. The creamy pudding, layered with slices of ripe banana was a true indulgence that satisfied my sweet tooth.
The service at Ted’s Restaurant was exceptional, and Shirley, our server, played a significant role in making our experience memorable. She was incredibly welcoming and hospitable, ensuring that we felt right at home. Moreover, Ted’s presence added a personal touch, as he actively interacted with guests and checked on their satisfaction.
If I live around that area, I might consider it as my go to places to eat. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Ted’s Restaurant for an authentic southern dining experience that combines delicious food, and great service.

My friends and I were in on Saturday for breakfast. I haven’t laughed that much at a breakfast in such a long time. “Ted” the owner is phenomenal. Our breakfast and interaction with him was one of the most pure human interaction moments I have had in such a long time. His heart and true passion for life and people shine through as his north star.

First time eating here and I will definitely return. I know now why the parking lot is always full. The Mac and cheese is creamy and cheesy, the collards were fresh and seasoned just right, the fried green tomatoes had just the perfect amount of crunch and were amazing. They had run out of cornbread, so I got one of the Parker house rolls and it was soft and still warm enough to melt butter on the inside. I did not have any room left for dessert unfortunately. I love that the menu changes daily. 50+ years of business and I can see why.
The staff were so friendly and seemed happy to be there, which is not something you see many places anymore. This is a Birmingham staple. I have always passed by on my way to UAB and it’s always closed bc they serve lunch.
If you’ve never been, it’s cafeteria style, you pick from several choices of meat and veggies or you can just get a vegetable plate as I did today.
I cannot give this enough stars. It was just great and a good way to end my adventure downtown today.
The restrooms are small. If you use a wheelchair, there’s no getting in there, the doorway is just not large enough. But, there’s plenty of room to navigate the line for food and find a spot at the end of one of the booths. I would just choose a time closer to the end of the lunch rush.
There were 2 handicap parking spots close to the front door and the parking lot is completely flat except for the overflow spots that are gravel.

Me and my buddy who just moved here for college wanted to go get breakfast after our morning workout. We walk in and watch the host sit on his phone for 5 minutes before the server finally went and got him to seat us. Menu is pretty high priced for what you are getting. I got the southern breakfast. Pancake was alright, eggs cooked good, bacon was good, biscuit very good, potatoes were very mushy with no crisp, and a fruit bowl with a single strawberries and like 3 blueberries and a couple cubes of melon . 21 dollars for what I could have gotten at Waffle House for 12 and it would have been better along with more food. The plates are a funky shape that let your food slide off. An extra side of anything is like 6 dollars.
