Great atmosphere. Good food. Excellent Service. We enjoyed the Shrimp appetizer with arugula – so flavorful. Fried cod was excellent as was the grilled salmon. The Parmesan Broccoli side was spot on. It was a Friday, so we went for the fish!

We had a terrible experience at this location 3 or 4 years ago. We waited almost an hour for our food without any interaction from staff. Finally, someone came to our table and apologized for the wait and said our food was coming. We wanted another 30 minutes, again with no communication, before we finally decided to get up and leave.
Last night I said, “Maybe they were recovering from the pandemic, let’s give Ted’s another try.”
It seems to me now that being terribly under-staffed is the policy at Ted’s.
Last night we had a reservation for a party of 4. We were seated by the host quickly but she only gave us 3 menus and 3 sets of silverware. We let her know there were 4 of us. She apologized but then never came back with the 4th setup. We waited 15 minutes with no greeting or any contact with staff. I finally flagged down the host to say I thought maybe our server didn’t know we had been seated. She actually confirmed that he did know that we were there, but that he was “really busy”. Our server finally arrived to tell us that he was sorry for the wait but that he had been seated with four tables all at once. He apologized again but said he’d need to come back later to get our drink order. I want to be clear that our server was very professional and kind, but he was clearly stressed out and overworked. After we put in our drink order, we finally got the host’s attention again to give us our 4th set of utensils (my wife and I shared a menu). My wife’s drink order was wrong and my son asked for a milkshake that was forgotten. The food was mediocre and my fries were not hot. (We didn’t complain to anyone about the food.) Again, the server was very kind and comp’ed the milkshake and apologized for all the mistakes but the bottom line is that I don’t think anybody could be successful in providing a good experience under the circumstances. I think it’s as simple as: they don’t hire enough people at Ted’s.
We won’t be back.

Our first time here and Ted’s Montana grill didn’t disappoint. The homemade pickles were so fresh and crisp. I had a wedge salad with blue cheese dressing, it was very good. The bison filet was full of flavor, I would definitely recommend the filet. The service was great and Evelyn did a great job!

I ate here with my friends the other day for lunch. I had the bison burger with onion rings. Both were very good. I also had the cherry lemonade which was far too sweet but they exchanged it out. The server was very friendly and accomodating. I also had the wildberry cheesecake with sauce and it had blackberries. Will come again, want to try the Huckleberry Margarita!

Went here for the first time which was highly anticipated. We had a 6:30 reservation and were seated promptly. We ordered shortly after. Our food took an hour with my meal coming after the others. My sandwich was not cooked very good. It was supposed to be grilled. It appeared to have been microwaved. The fries arrived seperately they and were half cooked. I spoke to our server who was amazing and sent it all back. I also spoke to the manager offered a different meal ( and later a dessert) He did remove the meal and my wine from the bill which was appreciated.

Let me start by saying how kind our server was. No complaints about him whatsoever. Good service is hard to find sometimes so always want to highlight that. Another bonus, a dedicated gluten free menu…as someone with celiac disease, this is a huge draw. I have eaten here twice now and both times left sorely disappointed, but none as bad as my most recent visit. The steak was delicious and they made sure it was done to my liking, which I appreciate. However, the salad was so wilted and browned I had to send it back as I could scarcely find a good looking piece of lettuce in it. They brought out another, which I again appreciate, but it had more bad lettuce in it…even so much so that there was a black stringy glob…what I’m guessing was once a piece of lettuce that shriveled up so badly? Anyway, I opted not to eat it. I ordered mashed potatoes with my meal, as did my mother, and we both could not eat them. I like a lot of pepper, but this was so bad that my mouth was on fire…it was as if someone had accidentally dropped the pepper shaker in the potatoes. We both found them inedible. Thankfully, the steak was delicious and a good size, but knowing the cost of the meal and the quality of the food I can’t recommend this restaurant.

I recently had the chance to experience Ted’s Montana Grill in Waverly as a hosted guest, and this scratch-made kitchen delivers on flavor. Ted’s is a smaller national chain with about 38 locations, but they focus on quality ingredients and an elevated take on American comfort food. Bison is the star of the show.

I started with a tasting of several appetizers and complementary house pickles. While Ted’s isn’t a seafood spot, they still served up a solid St. Phillip’s Island Crab Cake. It had minimal filler, which I appreciated, but I prefer a lumpier texture and a bigger portion. That said, this is a meat restaurant, so let them shine with their strengths.
The Bison Nachos were dangerously good. They are gluten-free and absolutely smothered in cheese and bison meat. I had to pace myself because I knew more food was coming, but these could easily be a meal on their own.
The Grilled Shrimp on Ciabatta was another great starter. The shrimp were plump and juicy, seasoned with Ted’s proprietary blend, and served on garlic-toasted ciabatta with lemon compound butter.
I normally do not like cauliflower, but the Cauliflower Fritters completely won me over. These cheesy, crispy bites were incredibly addicting. I kept going back for more. This dish is a chef’s special, so it is not always on the menu, but if you see it, order it.

Ted’s is known for its bison burgers, so I had to try a couple.
The Smash Burger is a limited-time chef’s special available until March 16, 2025. It comes with American cheese, spicy pickles, and a scratch-made ranch onion dip. The flavor was spot on, but I prefer a little more caramelization and crispy edges on my smash burgers. I would still order it again.

The Canyon Creek Burger takes things up a notch with cheddar cheese, bacon, jalapeño, blackberry jam, and a fried egg. The combination of smoky, sweet, and spicy flavors worked well together. The onion rings that came with it were some of the best I have had.

Ted’s excels in bison dishes, and the Bison Short Ribs were a standout. The bones slid out clean, and the meat was incredibly tender. It came with mashed potatoes, broccoli, and a house roll for the perfect comfort meal.

The Bison Filet was another highlight. I ordered it medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. Bison has a richer, slightly sweeter taste than beef, and this filet was exceptionally tender. I paired it with carrots and asparagus, which balanced the richness nicely.
I always save room for dessert, the Kahlua Fudge Brownie which was served hot from the oven with vanilla ice cream. I could have eaten five of these. No notes, just perfection.

I was also told to try the Apple Pecan Crisp which was full of warm spiced fall flavors, with a buttery oat and pecan topping over tart Granny Smith apples. If you love cozy desserts, get this before it rotates off the menu for strawberry season.

Ted’s Montana Grill has something for everyone. They are great at accommodating allergies, so let your server know and they will work directly with the chef. They also offer mocktails and non-alcoholic beverages, which is a nice touch.

Next time you are in Waverly, you will probably find me at Ted’s.
