My 3rd time here. Absolutely love it. The atmosphere, friendly staff, and food is amazing!! It’s a little pricey but is so worth it! There’s 2 shops associated with the restaurant. One is attached (crafts, nicknacks, etc.) and the other 1/2 a block down street (clothing-jewelry like boutique). Makes a perfect day with family and friends! Great meal, conversation and shopping. Reservation is the best way to assure your table. They actually have a cancellation list.

The Tea Room at the Depot Opened in a beautifully restored building dating back to 1909, The Tea Room at the Depot has celebrated over 25 impressive years serving the Mackinaw community. The atmosphere is steeped in nostalgia, and under the ownership of Beth Wiegand—whose dedication radiates through every detail—the tea room has become locally beloved. You’re greeted with warmth from Justin , setting the tone for an inviting experience, and cared for by Janel, a truly sweet server who makes every visit feel personal.

Appetizers
Homemade Crackers with Apple Cinnamon Butter: The starters arrive with rustic crackers accompanied by house-made apple cinnamon butter—a delightful combination that balances creamy sweetness with a hint of spice, perfectly capturing the coziness of the season.

Signature Tiers
MaKenna Rae Panini: This tier features a panini that’s a local staple: pressed to golden perfection, it’s filled with flavors that are both classic and comforting.
Corn Chowder: The signature corn chowder is rich, soothing, and just the right amount of hearty for a cool day, brimming with Midwest corn sweetness and velvety texture.
Chocolate Mint Pie: Dessert on this tier is a slice of chocolate mint pie—a lush, silken treat with refreshing mint and deep chocolate notes.

Fall Features Fall Wrap: A fresh autumn wrap showcases seasonal ingredients, bringing bold flavor and crisp texture to the table.
House Salad with Garden Vinaigrette: The salad is bright and lively, tossed with their signature garden vinaigrette for a tangy finish that keeps you coming back for more.
Lemon Bar Pie: Ending on a zesty note, the lemon bar pie is vibrant and buttery, delivering the perfect amount of tart sweetness.

From start to finish, every detail—from the gracious service to the inventive menu—reflects the care and passion Beth and her team pour into their business.

Reservations are highly recommended, as this historic gem fills up quickly with loyal locals and curious visitors alike. For a charming brunch or a relaxing lunch, The Tea Room at the Depot combines Illinois history, neighborly hospitality, and a thoughtfully curated menu.

I had a lovely afternoon celebrating a dear friend’s birthday at the Tea Room. The panini tier was perfect. Then we shopped for gifts and I found just the right “something s” to finish my list.

It’s the 1st time I’ve been disappointed. Usually the chicken salad is excellent – chicken had odd texture, watery, not much flavor. Salad was a wilty spring mix – good blue cheese dressing, plenty of cheese, croutons, tomato. Coconut pie was very good. GF options.

Great place for a special occasion! I see people wear sundresses and fascinator hats for afternoon tea. Food comes out in three tiers. Soup/salad, sandwich, and dessert. The food is absolutely delicious. Lots of tea options. They make homemade butter. Ours was strawberry. The restaurant is connected to a store that you have to walk through to get to the tea room. The waitress we had was so nice! Had a great time and can’t wait to go back!

Amazing food wonderful atmosphere. Very good gluten free options with great attentiveness to safety. Before I could even ask about precautions the waitress shared that they change gloves and have a separate panini press for gluten free. And the gluten free coconut cream cup was incredible!
