Magical is a word thrown around a lot when discussing Tavern On The Green and one can’t help but feel magic in the air. Jim and David, architect Richard Lewis and landscape architect Robin Key, preserved the Victorian/ Gothic elegance of the semi-circular building; it is authentic, natural, elegant and sexy. It has been re-built to spectacular precision and the décor is of a grand farmhouse one might find on the property of an Italian Villa or a historic Hudson River Valley mansion. Dress Code: Smart Casual. Jacket and Tie are Not Required. * No athletic attire.

Restored Central Park icon for American fare in an elegant setting with courtyard & garden seating.

Sensational!!! Matthew the manager and Matthew the server were A+. They made sure my 6-year old daughter had a fabulous birthday here. Food was all outstanding, served in a gorgeous setting. The building has a lot of history. Erica at the gift shop was very knowledgeable and pointed out fun history facts around the restaurant. Fascinated by all the sheep incorporated into the decor as this used to be a sheep house. Must visit if you’re in NYC!

We had an excellent experience. Our server Tony was incredible. Very personable, patient, and attentive. The atmosphere was delightful, living up to its iconic reputation. And the food was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend the candied bacon appetizer and the steak and eggs entree.

We made lunch reservations at 11 am and we were the first people to enter on a Monday. Beautiful atmosphere full of kind staff. Our server, Keshawna, was one of the best we’ve ever had. From explaining drinks to helping me decide on my entree all the way to bringing my husband a card and cake for his 50th Birthday. She made our experience memorable. We highly recommend making reservations on Open Table. You will love this restaurant with no expense spared; the ambience and the atmosphere are absolutely perfect.

This place is all about the atmosphere and the ambiance and location. If you’re looking for good food, this is NOT the place to go (unless you like very bland, expensive-for-no-reason food). The atmosphere is amazing the drinks weren’t bad and the staff is nice. Go here to spend an evening listening to music and having drinks. That’s all I can recommend it for. I am just so upset by how much I paid for the most mediocre/bad food I’ve ever had in my life, and my standards are pretty low. I am also aware I’m not the target audience, I am not someone who regularly goes to fancy restaurants like this. Good experience to do once, but that’s all I can say.

We had a great time at the Tavern – we were sitting outside, sipping Manhattan’s (delicious) and the food was delicious too. We had some oysters (good), Caesar salad for starter (surprisingly delicious) and my medium rare steak was cooked to perfection! We all finished our plates, really enjoyed the music and the place – definitely recommend.

We took our team manager out for a fabulous birthday lunch here today… And all the food was delicious and the staff was so nice. The atmosphere is really festive and bright. The renovations are beautiful and I love the open kitchen. We really loved the lobster mac & cheese, fish and chips, and salmon burger. The birthday cake was delicious with cream cheese frosting. We highly recommend tavern on the green for a celebratory meal with the people you care about.

Great flavorful food and a very relaxing atmosphere. The outdoor seating is great with beautiful umbrellas and landscaping that offers privacy. This is at the entrance to central park so grab a horse and carriage when you are done your meal.

Restaurant is beautiful and we had the best service during our stay in NYC here. Waiter was very friendly and attentive making sure we were enjoying the experience. Food was incredible, I had the prime rib sandwich with shoestring fries and it was fantastic: meat cooked medium, tender and flavorful with their very nicely cut fries. If I am ever back in town, I’ll make sure to visit them.

We stood in line for about ten minutes in order to be seated for our reservation. Good service and good beer options once at the table, except that our eggs (one runny and one hard for the eggs Benedict) and French toast weren’t hot, so an improved timing would be good. Walking past the kitchen shows that the French toast is pre-made, and simply warmed up and browned when ordered. The high prices should be aligned with a better product.

Highly recommended. World class service, delicious food, relaxed vibe. It’s all here. The entire staff, waitress, busboys, hostesses, and manager were friendly and attentive. Recommend the outdoor seating area. Fun to see the Ghostbusters window at the restaurant and you can also see the tower that was used for filming on Central Park West.
