A lively setting with indoor/outdoor wrap-around bar & patio seating & a menu with classic bar fare.

It’s a great restaurant! Food great. Service great. My niece brings us here regularly and I enjoy it every time we go. We typically have large party but nothing they can’t handle. Give lots of credit to server last night. Sadly forgot his name. He double checked the order w everyone with it being a large one which was great move on his part! Keep up great work everyone! Wish there was a location to the West in Mass

We decided stop in, sat at a table at the bar and we’re greeted by a very friendly bartender, Danielle. She was very attentive and offered up some great drink suggestions. We went with the Downeaster Pumpkin Cider with the cinnamon rim that was so fresh! We ordered some handhelds and were both very happy with our food. I would happily order the chicken burrata handheld sandwich. Great, drinks, food and service!

Such a great experience here! The bang bang broccoli and guacamole were phenomenal — full of flavor and perfectly prepared. We also tried the mango chile margarita and the Boss margarita, and they were absolutely yummy! Sweet, tangy, and a little spicy — just perfect. The atmosphere is fun and lively, and the staff were really friendly, making the whole evening smooth and enjoyable. Everything felt fresh and thoughtfully made, from the appetizers to the drinks. We can’t wait to come back, try more of the menu, and enjoy another round of those amazing margaritas. Definitely one of our new favorite spots!

Stopped into Tavern in the Square in Shrewsbury late at night after a Holy Cross hockey game, and it was the perfect place to wind down.
Even at a late hour, the service was excellent. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the experience feel relaxed and easy. It’s always impressive when a restaurant keeps that level of service late into the evening.
The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. The menu has a great variety, so it’s easy to find something satisfying after a long day.
The atmosphere strikes a great balance — lively but still comfortable. If you’re in Shrewsbury and looking for a great late-night spot with good food and strong service, Tavern in the Square is a great choice.

Had a great birthday dinner at Tavern in the Square. The fried pickles and guacamole were the perfect start, and the crispy ranch chicken sandwich with tater tots hit the spot!

First time enjoying Tavern in the Square and the experience and food were amazing. Had the Bayou Chicken Pasta at the recommendation of our server, Jennifer, and it was incredible! Both meals ordered were big enough for two meals. 5-star all around!

Tavern in the Square is a reliable spot that covers the basics without truly excelling in any particular area. Food, service, and atmosphere all sit comfortably in the middle — nothing that disappoints but nothing that leaves a lasting impression either. It works well as a casual hangout or a quick meal, and the overall experience is pleasant enough. A little more ambition across the board would help it stand out in what is likely a competitive area.

Our waitress was very lovely but like most American restaurants, the food was awful. I tried to order something as healthy as possible, a quinoa bowl. I asked to have it without the corn because almost all corn in the US is GMO, which causes cancer. I could tell most, if not all of the veggies (broccoli, beets, carrots) were previously frozen from their mushy texture and lack of flavor. Also, the menu did not disclose that there was any kind of dressing or additive to the dish, so I was taken aback when it suddenly felt like I had a mouthful of candy – crazy amount of added sugar. Highly disappointed but not surprised. This is why I make nearly all of my meals at home and rarely go out to eat. I just returned home from a month-long trip in Italy and the food was FRESH. Nothing frozen, they treat their food and bodies well. The fries I had over there were oven baked in olive oil, not fried in vegetable oil like they are here, which causes a lot of damage to the liver and clogs arteries. Do better America. I’ll continue to cook my fresh, organic, sugar-less, whole-food meals at home.

Great get together spot! Love the floor plan and generous booths! Ideal menu, something for everyone! The hostesses were welcoming. We had a reservation for 10 however 8 confirmed. Informed the hostess upon arrival. However, as we had already settled in, the waitress asked us to move down a table since “they had to accommodate other guests.” We were not assisted to rearrange chairs and seating!
