The culinary experience here was phenomenal. The Fish was exquisite and the Ravioli just melts in your mouth. The Steak is an experience all it’s own and the Buffalo meatloaf was a definite treat. For dessert….you must have the German Chocolate Pie! Yes pie, not cake. To die for!

I kid you not, this was THE MOST delicious meal I have ever had. I had the bison and goat cheese ravioli, and I couldn’t get enough of it! The blend of flavors was perfect, but each individual component was delicious on it’s own as well. I was enjoying my meal so much I forgot to take a good picture of the dish, but I would highly highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone. 11/10. Get a reservation beforehand though, this place fills up incredibly fast.

UPDATE: I went again on my way back down, I had the pheasant rangoons, the chicken pot pie, a lemon huckleberry cake pop, and a strawberry rhubarb pie. Let me tell you, this guy can’t miss. Everything was to die for. The ravioli is still my favorite, and I would suggest that to any and all that can get their hands on it, but sadly they were OUT of it by the time I got there. Pictures are included, please visit if you get the chance, it’s worth it.

Also! All meals come with a complimentary French macaron, so good!!

We will be back! The service here is friendly, and the owner was our waiter! We had lovely descriptions of our food and any questions answered happily. My husband is typically critical of restaurant steak but he was very complimentary of the flavors and temperature of his order. My son really enjoyed his shrimp pad Thai. I had the ravioli which are house-made and delicious. I would love to try the other ways they prepare them! They ended our meal with a complimentary macaron. Yum!

Tavern 287 has incredible food coming from an excellent chef. We had the elk oss bucco (which blew my mind!), pheasant rangoons, & bison meatloaf!! Reservations are required for any night, as there’s a small staff, but it’s definitely worth it!! Expect slow movement from the kitchen.

You know it’s good when the 6 year old asks you to give this place 5-stars because they love the steak and scallopini. Wonderful food and service and I only wish we had the chance to take pictures before we ate. We loved the home made lemon macarons at the end!

Upon arrival I was created by a very busy, hustling man, Bruce, the owner. I was in no rush and settled in for a fabulous experience. The menu is expected Montana. While enjoying a glass of wine I settled on a cup of wild game chili. It was thick, meaty, spicy , and perfect after a windy and long day on the Madison. Between the chicken pot pie and Bison meatloaf, Bruce recommended the latter because the pot pie was huge. Great choice. The meatloaf was not what mom makes, it was better. Portion size was huge! I wish I could have finished. Bruce then provided a complimentary macaroon homemade by the chef, his wife. This would be on my last meal request if I was on death row!!!! Since I’m not, I’m going back to Tavern 287 tonight because Bruce says he can always fit on more. And, for the impatient 6some that decided they couldn’t wait 1 more minute to be seated….glad you left. More time for the rest of us to enjoy Bruce’s company!

On my second night I walked in to receive a warm welcome, my name being remembered and…a heater placed where I was to be seated! Bruce knew I was out fishing in the snowy weather and prepared to warm me up! Who does that?????? The pheasant Rangoon was simply delicious and the Elk osso bucco is a home run. I will always return to Tavern 287 on every trip!

Great food and service.
Small and able to with demand make a reservation. Quiet, right size restaurant. My favorite, small menu. You do not forget what you read. The food is full of the right spices and seasonings. The decor matches the food.
Ended the meal with macaroons (pistachio) .
Thank you.

Unique place that is worthy of your stop for a meal in Ennis. We wanted a burger and this place delivered! Also can recommend the Asian Chicken Salad too. We split one between us and it was perfect. The fries are good, but the scratch made potato chips steal the show. A great place to just relax a bit and have a great meal. Strongly recommend.
