It’s pretty much our Friday night spot—one of those places where everyone knows our name and our cocktail!
Amanda and her team are always ready for us. A Manhattan is served almost before we order. The regular menu does not change, but there’s always a special fish and meat dish with a different twist each week, along with rotating appetizer specials that keep things interesting.
We love their Tuesday night half-price pasta and usually rotate between the cacio e pepe, bolognese, and orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sweet Italian sausage. It’s honestly hard to pick a favorite—but as someone who never used to enjoy sausage, that dish has become one of my top choices.
If you’re stopping in just for a cocktail or a glass of wine with a few appetizers, you can’t go wrong with the Salumi & Formaggi plate. It’s perfect for sharing and very reasonably priced. One of our must-order favorites is the Roman-style fried artichokes. We also love the pop-up special appetizers—most recently the mussels and baked clams… yum!
Our typical meal is an appetizer, a pasta, and the meat or fish special, all shared family-style the Italian way—and at 227 Tavern, we truly feel like family and you will too!
I am here at least once a week especially for their Pasta Tuesdays (half off pasta)! The menu is quite small at the same time, they have different specials each week. The Special Veal Appetizer they had was exquisite as well as the Spaghetti Carbonara. Meatballs and Arancini are pretty decent, and the Eggplant Parmigiana is delightful.
Although this is one of my favorite places to eat in the area, I do wish they had some more authentic Italian options.
Each drink is made to perfection, my go to would be the espresso martini!
The staff is knowledgeable and accommodating always have their best face on with great spirit!
The prices are pretty high up there so dont come with a cheap mindset! I would also advise that if you are going on a weekend to make a reservation as they do fill up fairly quickly.
Spinach goat cheese salad was spot on and prepared healthy, Eggplant parm was spot on, and pastas had a ton of flavor! Exceptional restaurant.
It was my wife’s birthday dinner and we were there barely over an hour. They got us out in record time giving them more profit but at what cost. I will not be returning. It’s a shame, I did like the food.
Menu is eclectic with wagyu meatballs, a crisp roast chicken and fingerling potatoes, or a tender 12oz steak, which arrives sliced. All are terrific.
The food is much better than you might expect, and the atmosphere and service are pleasant and unfussy.
