I’ve been wanting to come here since I moved the area, and I can’t believe it took me so long!!!
Emily was an amazing server. She helped me make up my mind on two items that were delicious AND GLUTEN FREE!!!! She’s super knowledgeable on gluten free for real life and within Tavern 109. I ate the Cherry Harvest burger on gluten free bun and it was so good. Even better warmed up the next day with melty goat cheese. They have gluten free soups, which is so rare. Highly recommend the carrot soup. I could have drank it, given the opportunity. I also got the Apple & Fig gluten free pizza. The visuals are stunning, the menu so unique, and service phenomenal. I’ll be back again and again!

My boyfriend and I were on a little day trip to some antique stores in the area and I was excited to try this place since it has a ton of gluten free options. (Not just salads but actual alternatives like gluten free burger buns.) There’s a dedicated menu for it which I really appreciated to see; so I don’t have sort through all the items when trying to decide. I got the cherry harvest burger with house made chips and a pumpkin spice white russian. Our waitress (I think her name was Katie?) was so friendly and helpful. I knew this place would be a little pricey compared to the places we usually go but all of the food was amazing. You’re not getting pre-made food ordered from Sysco or Gordon like so many other restaurants. Would definitely recommend and come here again!

Dining in this historic building was such a delightful experience. I ordered the Meatloaf Tower with Carrot Ginger Bisque, and everything was fantastic. The soup was creamy, smooth, and full of flavor, while the meatloaf was tender and perfectly wrapped in bacon. Personally, I would’ve preferred a little less barbecue sauce to let the meatloaf’s natural flavor shine through, but it was still very tasty.
A special shoutout to my waitress, Tori — she was incredibly sweet, attentive, and genuinely helpful. Her excellent service made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I’d definitely come back again!

Where do we start, adorable old building, nice on inside. Great seating in two different sections. Unique bar, good staff, excellent server Katie!! Hard pressed to recall the last time we were so wonderfully waited on!! She was very attentive, prompt, provided suggestions for food…..Delicious food all around for our group of four, impressive menu and chef does a wonderful job. Definitely worth the extra cost. Will make the trek back, highly recommend, ask for Katie to be your server.

They were WONDERFUL! The food was amazing, service was incredible (it felt like everyone wanted to be there and the work environment wasn’t absolutely horrendous like a lot of food places). And the atmosphere was beautiful. It’s hard to find a nice restaurant in the Lansing area that has a good atmosphere, mocktails, AND a good vegetarian selection.

Nice place for an informal meal. I had the “Tower of Meatloaf” (a very misleading name). It was good, but hardly a tower. The mashed potatoes were excellent. The green beans were definitely crisp! (A little undercooked). The price was $26.00. The portions of the meat loaf and mashed potatoes was a little less than expected. Two other people in our party had the same thing and they both liked it as well. One person had the vegan burger and fries. She liked it. I would definitely go there again.

I had dinner in this restaurant with 10 of my coworkers on a Tuesday night. We sat on a small private room at the back of the restaurant that was amazing. There was a huge square table in the middle that had 3 chairs on each side. So, it’s a perfect private sitting for any party of 12 or less. Our server was amazing and did a great job with all of our drinks and orders. The food was absolutely amazing. One of our coworkers was vegetarian and there was a few option for her to pick from. All meals came with soup or salad. And the portion of the soup was perfect. Overall, an amazing experience and will be back again during my next visit.

Will definitely be back! This tavern was an upscale classy touch to your average “bar”. The atmosphere was welcoming, the music wasn’t too loud, the service was exemplary, and the food was the showstopper. Wish I had saved room to try one of their dessert options too.
We had the Cajun shrimp pasta and the swine Mac n cheese.

This place has been consistently good for over a decade. It was the first stop my wife and I made on our honeymoon, and every time we have to drive past we make an effort to stop in. The food is always great, and the service is always friendly. Even now, with picky kids, everyone has something they can eat and enjoy.

I’ve been here a few times now. My wife and I absolutely love tavern 109. There’s Sunday brunches are phenomenal (currently not having them do not be an open on Sundays because of the pandemic). Always have great service and great food. Chicken waffles some of the best I’ve ever had, mac and cheese is to die for, their sandwiches are delicious and filling. Great selection of Michigan beers on tap and fun cocktails. If you haven’t checked out tavern 109 I highly suggest stopping by.
