Hands down, this is *the best* spot in Austin (and surrounding cities) to dine on the freshest sushi you can sink your teeth into. I’ve been to almost all of them in town, even those pricey, exclusive ticketed sushi bars that only sit 12 at a time…you know, the ones that torch *every* piece of nigiri before serving it up.

Tatsumi has got to be one of the best, if not THE best, sushi spots I have ever been to. Service was great, very friendly. Took my fiancé here and we told our server the types of fish we typically like and they put together our entire meal. It was fantastic.

This place has the best sushi that I have had in Austin. My girlfriend and I left thoroughly impressed. Every item that we ordered was well prepared and full of flavor. I recommend the Walnut Creek roll for something fried and the roll containing the fish of the day for something more fresh. Their tuna rolls are delicious, too. On top of the food, we received excellent service. An older woman, whom I assume was the owner, helped us navigate the large menu and made superb recommendations. We will definitely return for sushi in the future.

The sushi restaurant offers an extensive selection of sushi and sashimi, and the quality of the food is outstanding. The staff was incredibly attentive and provided exceptional service. The sushi was incredibly fresh, with a range of flavors that all blended together harmoniously. The only downside was that the portions were a bit small, but the quality more than made up for it. Personally, my favorite dish was the Negi Tori. The blue fin fatty tuna are always incredibly rich and flavorful.

Having tried so many Japanese restaurants in Austin and everywhere else, Tatsumi has definitely earned its top place in my heart. The food, being the most important factor of a restaurant, is always very fresh and presented beautifully to the customers. Every bite is satisfying and pure enjoyment and every dish on the menu is thoughtfully crafted. You have so many options to choose from, or you can leave it up to the chef to surprise you with something you’ve never tried before, it’s all about the fun experience. Over the past years, Tatsumi has definitely kept its bar consistently high with great food and service, and some creativity in their menu, it’s definitely a hidden gem that will not disappoint you.

These folks are near and dear to my heart. If you want a personable, knowledgeable and innovative experience with sushi, come here and trust the chefs. They regularly rotate their selection and are constantly dreaming up wonderful flavour profiles and combinations to introduce to customers. A lot of sushi places in Austin tend to play it safe and serve the same things. Which is fine, but if you live in the delight of trying new things, it’s limiting. Tatsumi pushes the envelope every week and will respond enthusiastically if you have ideas or profiles in mind. They’re the only place I’ve been that are genuinely excited if you tell them you want them to guide your lunch or dinner. Their passion for their craft is unmatched.

This place was wonderful throughout. I was served by Kyra and also the owner Tiffany. They were both delightful. I was unable to do a traditional omakase due to reservation need (and my lack of foreplanning) but they did a version of it themselves.
