Tastee Treet has been serving old-fashioned drive-in sandwiches and ice cream for over 70 years. Some have driven many miles to stop in and see us! We appreciate all of our customers from the daily regular to the occasional passerby. The classic signature menu items are the Tastee Beef, Tastee Cheese or Tastee Dog. Don’t forget to order a side of gems! You can’t get anything like it anywhere else! And, the best part, you will be pleasantly surprised with a great price and a generous serving. Used to hang here after swimming at memorial pool………in the 80s. Food was cheap and tasted good. 40 yrs later………….wow!!!! How great childhood memories have turned to shit. Frozen beef patties, soggy gems and terrible shakes/malts. Owners obviously purchased a name and are taking advantage by producing garbage with poor quality of a classic name. 4 burgers and a malt was almost $40. Ridiculous.

I was excited to try this place, as it was a favorite of my husband’s childhood. The ice cream was good. However, I was appalled at the customer service. They were out of the ice cream I ordered, but offered an alternative. When I asked if I could have a small sample of the alternate (as it was a flavor I was unsure of), it was met with a terse “no”. Fine. I ordered something else. Later in our visit, my husband purchased a souvenir coffee mug for $20 and while he was purchasing it, asked for a refill of his beverage (which he had purchased earlier). “No, we don’t do refills.” “Ok. Can I have some water in the cup then?” “We’d have to charge you” was the response. We literally have already purchased a beverage, PLUS an overpriced mug, and you can’t offer some tap water? The manager had serious attitude and was not in customer service mood, that was clear. Although this place was a favorite of my husband’s, it left a sour taste in my mouth.

The food was decent, although I will say that as soon as I opened my burger from the wrapper, there was quite a bit of grease. The fries were pretty bland, but they have salt and pepper at the table. With that being said, the main reason to go to Tastee Treet is there astounding ice cream, good old fashioned soft serve! Service was good, but the atmosphere could be improved greatly, the walls have nothing on them, and overall it’s pretty boring looking inside. Overall I’d give this place a 7/10.

Not my favorite place to eat in Norfolk unfortunately. I was very hopeful about trying this restaurant. Because I was told this is a staple landmark place here. I will try again in the future. My daughter and her beat friend enjoyed their floats that’s why I gave it 3 stars.
