We tried taste of the Himalayas for dinner and were extremely impressed. We are vegetarian, and this restaurant has a complete vegetarian section to choose from, which is rare. We enjoyed the vegetable tandoori, paneer tikka masala, and the navaratan korma (vegetable coconut curry), plus an order of 4 garlic naan peices. All dishes came with biryani rice. Everything was delicious!

The vegetables in the tandoori were perfectly charred, yet still tender crisp. They included large peices of eggplant, zucchini, red and green pepper, cabbage, paneer, broccoli and cauliflower. We ordered two sides of spicy sauces to go with the veggies. We ordered the korma coconut curry mind for my 9-year-old son, and he loved it over rice. The paneer tikka masala was also delicious. We ordered it with medium spice and it was perfectly prominent in every bite. It was extremely flavorful. Since it was raining off and on, the chiya tea we ordered with milk and spices really hit the spot. It was so delicious and well balanced.

This was honestly one of the best Indian/Himalayan meals we have ever had, and as vegetarians, we’ve had plenty! The service was extraordinary, with detailed guidance on the menu, spice levels and options for kids. I accidentally dropped my knife on the floor, and without asking anyone, our server brought me a clean knife. Who does that?!!! That’s is a must try for Indian/Himalayan food in the Carlsbad area.

While on spring break, my son and I stopped by Taste of the Himalayas, located in a charming shared village setting in Carlsbad. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the host and seated right away. The environment was very family-friendly, with both indoor and outdoor seating available (outdoor spaces were cozy with nearby heaters, perfect for the 65° weather).

I ordered the tandoori chicken while my son went with his go-to, chicken tikka masala. We also enjoyed a chai tea and his favorite, a mango lassi, which didn’t disappoint! The flavors were rich, comforting, and clearly made with care.

We appreciated being able to pay with cash, and the overall experience was spontaneous yet memorable. Thank you to the staff for your wonderful hospitality and for sharing such a beautiful culture through your food and service.

If you’re visiting Legoland in Carlsbad and looking for solid Indian food, you seriously have to check out Taste of the Himalayas. It’s located right in the heart of Carlsbad Village, which is such a great, lively spot to hang out.
The ambiance is really nice and the waitstaff were so attentive and kind. We ordered the Kadai Chicken the first night and it was honestly incredible, so flavorful and perfectly cooked.

We actually spent the next day at Legoland and were completely exhausted by the end of it. We thought about trying a different spot for dinner, but we honestly couldn’t stop thinking about how good the food was the night before, so we just went back again! This time we tried the Achari Chicken and it was even better.

You can tell they use high-quality ingredients because the food sat really well with me and didn’t feel heavy or greasy. The location is also perfect if you have kids because there’s plenty of space to walk around and enjoy the area after dinner.

If you’re in the area and want the best Nepalese, Indian, or Tibetan food, this place is a must. Definitely our new favorite spot in Carlsbad!

Not a lot is open late for food in Carlsbad so we stumbled upon this spot and could not have lucked out more! The food was incredible but the staff made the experience even better. Everything was served quickly and adjusted to each of our spice levels. I was with my vegan girlfriend and everything was clearly pointed out to her on the menu. The waitress also asked if she could put us on their Instagram stories and it was so fun to see they capture everyone. I couldn’t recommend more!

The food was absolutely delicious with decent portion sizes at a reasonable price. My friend and I shared a lunch menu item and still had leftovers to take home. The establishment is clean and well decorated. The staff was top tier service that I haven’t received at a restaurant in a long time. They were happy to have us in and helped with some menu questions and recommendations. Even saved us some money by upgrading or naan instead of getting two (comes with the lunch specials). So glad we stopped in to eat here while visiting from Las Vegas!

This is our favorite place for Indian food. The dishes are fresh and flavorful. The service is always very friendly and attentive. This time they served a complimentary split pea soup to start. We ordered the garlic cilantro naan and raita. For main courses we ordered the Chicken Achari and Chicken Kadai. Both were delicious. We ordered 6 and 8 spice levels and this was definitely spicy. I can’t wait to go back again.

Flavor. FLAVOR. FLAVOR!!!
We stopped in yesterday afternoon for a quick bite, ordering two different appetizers. WOW! The flavors were amazing! Each bite was full of perfectly blended spices. So today we went back for lunch, and we are so glad we did. The staff are all warm and welcoming, all hailing from Nepal. They were extra kind and explained all sorts of things on the menu for us. But it’s the warm flavors and rich sauces we were craving that brought us back. Their amazing lunch special lets you choose 2 main dishes from a select menu, so we picked 4 total dishes and shared. The special also come with lentil soup and naan (get the garlic naan!) EVERYTHING was fabulous. You MUST get the mint chutney sauce– it’s incredible! Try the choila and pakora appetizers and you’ll want to come back for more. “Spicy” is REALLY spicy here, so ask for “mild” if you need to, but recognize that some dishes (like chicken chili) just can’t be made mild. But everything is absolutely delicious! (AND: that lunch special is under $15! It’s an amazing deal!)

The best food we tried in our California trip. Each and every dish was so delicious.
They also made spice levels as per our recommendation.
We ordered Veg Momos , Chicken Momos, Veg Biryani, Kadhai Paneer, Roti, Shrimp Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Mango lassi & veg samosa. All dishes were equally yummy and tasty. We ate all food and forgot to take photos
Service was excellent, Himani and Tutu both are really sweet.

Recently tried this place and it was great! The food was delicious and the spice levels are very spicy. The chicken sagg was our favorite item we tried, but the chicken biryani wasn’t to our liking. But everything else was delicious, especially the garlic cilantro nann. Great service. We loved eating outside on the cute little patio near the fountain.
