Tried this place tonight, we thought it was great. Food was really fresh, great value. Halal style dishes were fantastic. Sometimes meat quality is an issue for me but this was fresh and great quality. Looking forward to going back next week.

Outstanding family owned restaurant with incredible Afghan food! The wings were crispy and perfect! The chapli platter was amazing and spices were flavorful. I also got a mix of kabobs to go which was the perfect way to get a taste of some of the variety of kabobs and that tangy white sauce they give on the side just took it all to another level. The service was wonderful and food came out in decent time. We can’t wait to be back!

Ordered a mixed gyro platter for takeout…it was really good and very fresh. Just wished prices were a tad bit more reasonable. A suggestion would be to add a better pita bread to serve with the platters or Afghan bread would be the best honestly and warm/toast it..don’t leave it cold. Also, wish the owner wouldnt be so stingy with the sauces. The hot sauce was soo good but he made a comment how their homemade so I guess that means hes charging extra for it and being stingy. Maybe put enough in one container and then charge but charging for barely any sauce is kinda ridiculous. Platters should come with atleast 1 sauce of each.

I can’t say enough good things about Taste of Kabul! The food is incredibly fresh and authentic. The Chapli Kabobs were seasoned perfectly and juicy, and the Chicken Tikka had the best smoky char I’ve had in a long time.
Huge portions, amazing service, and “amazing everything” overall. If you’re in Scotch Plains, this is a must-try. I’ll definitely be back!

We ended here one evening. The area around it simply doesn’t have anything exciting to eat and we almost reluctantly walked in.
But gosh it was such a treat. Every kebab was succulent and the two brother that run it are the nicest of folks. The quality of ingredients shines through.
The chai was fantastic too. Definitely try it out.
