Fantastic experience. Food is good. Bread is excellent. Try the bread with their vinegar, oil, parmesan…very good. Come prepared with a reservation on a Saturday evening.

The food is delicious. With a couple of exceptions, they make all of their own pasta. The portions are large. The prices are reasonable. If intimate seating as for a date night is your expectation, you won’t find it here. BUT, don’t let that stop you. The food from the owner/chef is delicious with rotating specials as well as a set menu.

Best thing, right next to Precious Moments and the piano man. I tip him to play Louie Armstrong ‘la vie en rose’ and ‘what a wonderful world’ while we ate, enjoyed our Italian lunch and chat. Awesome waitress, checking on us all the time too. Owner even greeted us on our way out. Can’t beat all this.

The food did come out hot …… apparently the A/C doesn’t work ? Nothing like eating dinner and having sweat beading on your forehead in August ! Our waitress forgot us twice , not really that busy but hey it happens…. the large lady sitting behind me smelled of urine … the food was ok and i did not get diarrhea so thats a plus .

My wife, family, and I have been to Taste of Italy many times for dinner or lunch. Chef Aleks (owner/Chef) is very talented and makes everything fresh daily, from bread to pasta to the pizza dough for hand-tossed NY Style pizzas. He makes a wide variety of pasta dishes from Italian classics, to a variety of individually made sauces for various combinations with shrimp, chicken, steaks, lamb shanks — too many to list. Also a nice selection of cheesecakes and cake desserts. On Friday & Saturday nights, there frequently is a local musician playing Vintage Classic tunes on their piano — I nice touch for dinner.

I went here a couple months ago when I visited the Precious Moments museum. The bread was great as well as the pizza. Me and my grandma went twice in one night. The portion sizes were quite large and the staff was very attentive and the owner was interacting with patrons. Very amazing place I hope to go again some day. The owners accent was intriguing and cool.

Went to the Precious Moments Museum, and beside it is The Taste of Italy.

Food was good, but the day we went, they could not make pizza’s … which is what we wanted.

The pastas were good, service was great and the atmosphere is… welll… just a large open room. Could use some TLC.

If your around, its worth trying…

Alex’s Tortellini was amazing and the serving sizes are very generous for the price. Side salad with house made dressing or the soup of the day is included with every entree along with complementary bread and a side of marinara. There’s also live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

The food wasn’t bad. I got the chicken Alfredo and it was really good. My wife ordered the combo plate and the red sauce tasted almost like it was from a can and the Italian sausage was really mushy. The bread was really good and our server was top notch. I think the biggest complaint for me was the noise. The dining room was a large open space. It looked like it had once been a conference room or a small auditorium. There was a rather large party with a lot of kids there at the same time and the kids were being kids and screaming and playing and running around their table. It’s not necessarily the restaurants fault, however their screaming echoed in the large room and it made it hard to carry on a conversation. It was good, but I don’t know if I would go out of my way for it again.

I’m giving it only four stars because of the fluorescent bulbs they use inside. Very cold looking and not warm at all but a lot of tables were full and this was on a Sunday when the Chiefs were playing. I also had to wait about five minutes to get acknowledged after I walked in to pick up my take out order but not a huge deal. Still, some of the best New York style pizza I have ever had, and I am from NY. I’ve been wanting to try them since moving to Carthage and they did not disappoint. Fresh toppings, great crust (which is what makes it for me). I’m really surprised that they are making such great pies. I also tried the Caprese appetizer which was also very good (I think for the price that some bread should be included). Everything was packaged nicely as well.
