Taste of India was a very good India restaurant that my girlfriend and I had the opportunity to eat at.

Fantastic Indian Food! Fresh and flavorful. Wonderful spices! Aloo Gobi and Chana Masala are my favorites. Mushroom Masala and Vegetable Pakora are delicious. The buffet made choices difficult so plan on several trips. A definite recommend when in Monterey.

I ate at this restaurant for the first time for their lunch buffet on Aug 23, 2023, and it was so good that I ate lunch there again two days later. It’s a family-owned business, and the husband and wife owners provide great-tasting food and fine customer service.

The wait was long but wow. This food really made me happy. I wanted to go to sleep at the table right after. It was very delicious. Better than Ambrosia. The people are much nicer and more hospitable.

Everything was very good. Food was a little different than what I was expecting. Sauces was very watery but with lots of flavor. I’m use to thicker sauces. Nonetheless, everything had all the flavors I was looking forward too.

We visited on Memorial Day. We got there close to opening so they were not very busy. Only two other tables were occupied. We did the buffet and the food was fair. Most disappointing was that I just about finished my first plate of food before the nam bread arrived. I really enjoy eating Indian food with nam but missed that. I went back for a second plate , I don’t like to crowd the plate with too much food. The service was not friendly. No smile , no question “how was the food ? “ or any of the usual friendly service one expects from a local restaurant. We left a good tip because it was a holiday but I would not return after that disappointing service. I really don’t have anything good to say about the restaurant. I love Indian food and it had been a while since I had Indian food and I was really looking forward to my meal. Me and my girlfriend left very disappointed. I don’t care to leave bad reviews of restaurants but this place did nothing to please me. Even the nam when delivered to the table was literally dropped on the table with no smile and no eye contact. I’m probably being generous with a three star review.

Hands-down the best Indian food, we have had on the Pacific US1 road trip. The food is so authentic that it reminds me of Delhi and Punjab. The samosa chaat and dal makhani were lip-smacking good. Don’t forget to ask for extra mint chutney! It was heavenly!

The food did not taste good. The paneer dishes were nowhere close to authentic paneer taste. The tomato soup we ordered was just diluted gravy of paneer makhni. Their daal makhni was good. Tandoori butter roti was good too. Staff was very nice.

We happened to be in PG and it was dinner time. I spotted the name and I asked my husband to make the decision. He said Ya lets go! We waited for them to open at 5 on the dot. The owner KK welcomed us and we picked a table by the window. Candle lit and flowers on the table made it romantic and welcoming. Our server Jasmine knew the menu, explained the dishes to us and was very attentive. She made us feel very comfortable and provided excellent service!! This is the first Indian restaurant and this restaurant really makes me fall in love with Indian food. We loved the food, atmosphere/music, service and vibe. We hope people who love Indian food stop here and people who havent tried it – take a chance, if you like flavor like I do and flavor plus spice like my husband you wont be disappointed. We are excited to find this gem and are already planning our next visit.

We were so very disappointed in our dinner. We’ve been before a couple of years ago and it was so much better than this. The prices are way too high for the quality and quantity of the food. The chicken tikka masala was a small amount of cubed chicken and half of those were tough and inedible. And the sauce had little flavor. My husband had a chicken vindaloo and the ‘sauce’ was a thin and tasteless gravy. I know how hard it is to run a food business but the prices are just way out of kilter with the quality. Just serve quality food and maybe people will return, but charging these prices for what we experienced is just wrong. Sad to say we will not visit again.
