The food was absolutely delicious! The quality of the ingredients and the care put throughout the entire meal is apparent in each dish. I had one of the best beef samosas that was perfectly seasoned! The entrees were so good that I had to stop myself after getting full. It’s perfect to bring friends and share the different dishes. I recommend driving an hour just to sit down and enjoy! Be a little patient with the food coming out, but it was so worth it!

I came here with some friends while visiting from Maryland and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. The appetizers were a great intro to the restaurant. We ordered samosas and very moist puff puff. Definitely one of the best puff puff I’ve ever had. From the entrees we ordered, the grilled pork and grilled fish were my favorite. Very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The jollof rice was also really good. They are in the process of changing their menu so some of the prices weren’t updated but the chef was very apologetic about the minor confusion. I would highly recommend this place!!

Very tasty – wonderful meal. My wife and I enjoyed the goat stew with rice, the puff appetizers, and chicken schwarma. Everything was fresh and delicious. It’s a different flavor profile than you’ll normally get in Monmouth and so welcome. I had the ginger juice, it was tasty with a zing! Overall we loved it and will be back.

The food was fresh, and very delicious. We had the Grilled pork, Grilled Goat, Fumbwa, and kwanga. The service was excellent. If you haven’t tried this place yet you are missing out. You gotta try the ginger also, it was very energizing.

The food was really good! The woman (who I’m guessing owns it) is really nice! She’s the only worker there (from what it seemed) yet, we still had our food ready pretty quick! The food also came in a really high quality to go bag. I would definitely go again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE!
We were five truck drivers stopping for a meal at Taste of Africa in Monmouth, IL — ( LOVES. 804. ) and it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had on the road.
We ordered whole tilapia, fufu, grilled goat meat, jollof rice, whole chicken, and callaloo leaf stew. Every single dish was bursting with authentic flavor. The portions were generous, the prices very reasonable, and the food quality was simply unbelievable — rich, fresh, and perfectly seasoned.
A special mention goes to Cathy, whose service was humble, warm, and genuinely caring. She made us feel at home, and her hospitality added so much to our experience.
If you are anywhere near Monmouth, IL — especially if you’re a driver looking for real, satisfying food — this place is a MUST TRY. We will definitely be coming back.
Highly recommended! ️

Great food and excellent service. The hot sauce is very spicy and all of the food is so flavorful. We got the fufu and a few soups. Everything was fantastic!

Had a fantastic meal at Taste of Africa! The food was absolutely delicious and bursting with authentic flavors – a real treat. What truly elevated the experience was the **warm and attentive customer service**; the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Even the end was impressive – they provided **really nice, sturdy boxes and bags** for our leftovers, which was a thoughtful touch. Highly recommend for great food and a lovely dining experience!

The food was AMAZING! It felt like comfort food I didn’t know existed yet. The flavors were bold and exotic but somehow familiar at the same time. Definitely try the Bissap drink, you won’t be disappointed. Everything I had was great. I am so appreciative that our new immigrant neighbors are sharing their food and culture with us and I hope they’re here to stay!

Absolutely LOVED the food and we’ll definitely be back.
We drove in from Peoria and placed our order online halfway through the trip. We ate there and ordered more to take home. Everything is cooked fresh, so I’d say order time is about 20-30mns. The space is spotless and quiet. Chef Cathy was welcoming and the service was sharp. We had the goat stew combo with jollof and plantains, and the flavors were on point. Chef Cathy packed our order in a to-go bag that kept everything warm for the hour drive back to Peoria. We’re excited to have found an African restaurant close to us!
