This was our second time to give this place a chance, and like the first time last summer, the hamburger and cheeseburger we ordered were lukewarm/room temperature, clearly evident that the thin patties (like McDonald’s patties) were not freshly cooked. It was as if they might have been pre-cooked and microwaved. Certainly was not worth the cost of $5 each. Unfortunately, I could only take 2 small bites of the hamburger before having to stop because of getting a stomach ache.
Service attendant who took our order was friendly, and it was evident from the 5 other customers we saw while waiting that this place seems to be more popular for its ice cream and sweet treats. The atmosphere? Outdoor dining if you like that kind of thing.

Taste “E” Freeze was a pleasant stop for an ice cream treat. I was surprised to find non-ice cream items on the menu! It was definitely a nostalgic stop. Ordering at one window and pick-up at another.
The picnic tables are wonderful for those who stay to enjoy the food.
I loved my butterscotch dipped cone, my son enjoyed his marshmallow shake, and my hubs enjoyed a peanut butter malt. We did end up getting an order of mushrooms before we hit the road.
We will definitely make a day trip up to Stanberry to stop at the Taste “E” Freeze.

I love this place. There is no decent takeout food, anywhere in King City, Missouri, but the town next door Stanbury has a lot of wonderful things. And one of them is the Taste E Freeze. They’re dilly, bars are out of this world. They are dipped in tons of chocolate with a very smooth and tasty vanilla ice cream inside. So much yumminess on a stick! And don’t forget the tenderloins and the fried mushrooms, they make the perfect dinner.
