Social Profile:

Welcome to Tara’s Roti Shop, my mother (Tara) opened the ROTISHOP August 1995 at 8916 N. Nebraska Ave. We moved to 10006 N 30th street May 2004. My mother Tara passed away July 2020 and I have been running the business full time since Jan 2020. I have always been part of the ROTISHOP, however more in the background, doing paperwork, buying products, stocking, cleaning, etc. I am more of a business person, however I do try my best. My aunt (Doreen) has been doing all the cooking for the last 20 years. Currently there are 3 of us working, my aunt doing all the cooking, myself, I prepare all food, answer the phone, prepare delivery orders, stock, clean, cash, order products, prep, take orders in front and. a prep person.

Easygoing establishment with a bar supplying handmade Trinidadian fare & other Caribbean dishes.

I thought the prices were fair. The lady did not seem inviting but I think that’s just the older generation of west Indians nowadays. The time to wait was reasonable for food made to order. Here’s what had me perplexed the oxtail was curry I do not recommend. Goat was okay a little tough. The food wasn’t overly salty. Roti was decent. Dhalpuri and peanut punch were a must try. Atmosphere of restaurant is very rigid WAY too many signs it is just not a good look. There is a nice selection and assortment of treats and snacks from Trinidad. I appreciate that things were labeled clearly. But did not appreciate the fact that they make their duck so spicy they reiterated that several times almost like they just did not want to be bothered making it. Why serve it then. The doubkes are worth a try but nothing too special. The food here is def night and day compared to the other two neighboring west indian restaurants in the area. 75 cents extra to have the roti skin unwrapped from the meat. Not many vegetarian options. And no classics like bake and shark

Have heard abt Tara’s for over 30 years but never stopped in. Recently changed to a vegetarian diet and wanted to get something good and filling. I ordered the Vegetarian Sampler and a vegetarian roti, my husband ordered the Boneless Chicken Roti. He enjoyed his order and I loved mine‼️. I would suggest if you don’t know what you want as a vegan or vegetarian, order the sampler. You will not be disappointed, the flavors are memorable ‼️
I now have a place to eat when I want flavorful vegetarian food. They serve all types of meat dishes on the menu also so everyone has a choice! I suggest you give Tara’s a try, you won’t be disappointed

Had Auntie Tara’s freshly made doubles and peanut punch while there. Doubles were hot, fresh, and delicious! If you prefer only pepper sauce without the sweet tamarind sauce in your doubles (as I do), make sure you communicate that before chef begins making the order. Inhaled my two doubles there and then once served. They hit the spot. Washed it down with some home made peanut punch…I was set for the entire day. Also bought a Trini snack eaten during childhood, spicy preserved Cherries. Pack was a bit pricey, but worth the find Thank you Auntie Tara for the delicious food!

You can eat in, but mistly take out. No-frills inside. However, Sarah (Tara’s daughter) has done a wonderful job, folliwing her mother’s footsteps.

She makes and bottles her own ginger beer! (non-alcohol) The sorrel drink is to live for. I always order the conch roti wrap. Its always tender and delectable. This is Tampa Bay’s jewel.

Worst tasting curry ever. As a Trinidadian don’t go there. I literally drove 40 minutes to get there. When I do arrived I was doubting that was the shop then to top it off the worker attitude stink. I bought a chicken buss up shut and the skins and curry had a bitter taste. The solo drink was flat. I can imagine for the rest of thing I bought they’re probably stale. I DO NOT recommend anyone to buy from there

Look, come here knowing what you want to eat and you won’t be disappointed. The amount of food, flavor to the price CANNOT BE BEAT for trini cuisine. Come here with questions, modifications, and special accomodations and you will find out real quick. This place only deserves 5 stars from the times I’ve been here and my first time here I was yelled at by the late Ms. Tara – it was an experience I hold fondly. Love this place.

As a Trini, I can honestly say that this place has some of the best Roti I’ve tasted in Tampa. We had the spicy curry conch and curry duck roti. Man…everything was on point!! Even got some mauby and red mango. Stop in and pick up some of the favorite treats you used to eat when you were growing up. Very nostalgic. From the time you walk in, it smells like Home. You gotta check them out Y’all, And don’t be afraid of the Pepper lol!!

I would have liked to given 5 stars. The doubles were the best I’ve had in Florida. I craved a decent doubles and haven’t had any good ones since moving from NY. I ordered the curry duck, and she did warn it was spicy. I’m a pepper freak I eat the hottest pepper sauce and cook with heavy pepper so I was cool to try it. This was made to hurt people seriously. There’s no way you can sell that curry NO ONE can eat it if I can’t. I also didn’t like the sesame oil steam veg all over the top of it where I couldn’t see exactly what I was eating. The decor was hilarious I loved the sarcastic signage and quotes all over the restaurant. My grams Grace and grandfather Mike sent me there. They send their regards to your daughter and miss your mom dearly. Thanks for the meal, please lower that pepper!!

I love, love, love everything I’ve ever eaten at this place. The curry is spicy and so is the owner. I generally don’t eat meat, but the curried goat is so good I can’t resist it. Today, my daughter and I stopped by after several gruelling hours of thrift store shopping. We got the vegetarian combo platter

Ordered yesterday…tasted good no doubt.
Just couple positive feedbacks.
#Doubles needed a bit more Channa.
#Wrapping paper needs to be better quality or double wrapped because my 8 doubles was in a mess and overflowing the wrapper in the brown bag.
#I selected slight pepper but man these was heavy with heat….no way that was slight.
