I’ve made a lot of tomales in my days. I’ve tried tomales at a lot of different Mexican restaurants. About six years ago, I was told about a small Mexican restaurant on Merriam Lane. They told me to try out their tomales, and I did. Omg, they were delicious. I’ve stopped searching for the best tomales in town. I’ve gone back every year since then. Tarahumara tomales is a Christmas tradition in my home. They also have great food there. There are two locations, Tarahumara #1, on Merriam Lane. And Tarahumara #2, on 6th Street, just north of Central Avenue. Both in K.C.K. I’ve eaten at both locations, and I’ve never had a bad experience. Every year I order 2 dozen pork tomales and two dozen cheese and jalapeño tomales.

Stopped in for breakfast on a Thursday morning. Although I’ve had their food before, this was my first time dining in. As usual, food was delicious.
Today, I had a bowl of menudo. Bowl was big enough for my husband and I to share. We were told it was freshly made. It was perfect. My first time trying. Will definitely come back for another.
Also had a pork tamale with a side of rice. Tasted so fresh and delicious.
The young lady that took our order at the counter and brought out the food was polite and attentive. Prices were fair.

Amazing Mexican food and music. I was very disappointed that they don’t offer or have water to serve, which is the basic common drinking item you can have in a restaurant. Aside from that issue the food is phenomenal. Very chunky tacos, and the breakfast plate was so good. I like goin to a Mexican restaurant and actually being served Mexican dishes. My mom would always cut some avocado slices for breakfast, so this definitely this lil detail made it all the more better. Totally recommend if you are looking for delicious Mexican food, just keep in mind their drink selection is very limited.

Great place for a bite. Had asada and birria tacos with the consomme. Service was quick and the food was delicious, the tacos were stuffed and the consomme was very full bodied.

Tarahumaras Mexican Restaurant #2 has become my go-to spot for authentic and delicious Mexican food, and it never disappoints! My wife and I have had nothing but fantastic experiences here, with both the food and the service being consistently top-notch.
The very first thing I tried were the deep-fried shredded beef tacos, and they are an absolute must-have. They are perfectly crispy and flavorful, and if you can, go on a Thursday when they are on special! While the tacos are my favorite, we’ve tried numerous other dishes and have been impressed every single time.
A special shout-out to the chili verde for those who enjoy a good kick of spice. Be warned, it is definitely hot, but the flavor is incredible and makes the heat completely worth it.
You truly can’t go wrong with a visit to Tarahumaras Mexican Restaurant #2. For amazing food, great service, and a consistently wonderful meal, this place is a must-try!

First heard about this spot from a guide on the KCK Urban Hike that takes you around Strawberry Hill; recently stopped in for their platter of 4 Birria tacos and consome, they come loaded with onions and cilantro and were delicious! Also grabbed tamales for later, the jalapeño and cheese was alright but the pork with red sauce was a star; their tamales are super fluffy and well seasoned.
