Food has been decent but inconsistent. This last trip or two my order of birria was not tasty due to the shell not being crisped and no cheese skirt. It’s not so tasty when you bite through that bread uncooked. It’s like they were in a rush and didn’t take proper care to prepare the food. I had to take this order and fry it myself in the air fryer with a little oil. I only started ordering from this place after Talkin’ Tacos stopped delivering to my residence on Uber Eats. Good food, just not worth the cost for you to still have to prepare it yourself. Likely will not order again.

Birra tacos were delicious! This was on my list for DC, and since I was in the area, I had to hit them up. I was really happy to see they opened a restaurant since I’ve seen so many reviews during the pandemic. I tried all the birria tacos and they were really delicious….but the guacamole..Bangerang! They don’t have any seating but there are plenty of parks around to post up and enjoy.

Ordered delivery, wow the tacos were sooo good! The consume was very rich in flavor, the tacos were cheesy and packed full of meat. Definitely feel like they were worth the price! Can’t wait to order again and I definitely recommend for others to try!

I got carne asada tacos, and they were absolutely disgusting.I say this as a Latina with Mexican family. The tortillas were flavorless, the onions were cut long ways, so not sure how you can call yourself authentic and then not even cut the onions right. My gripe isn’t the cut but that they were somehow simultaneously, soggy/slippery and crunchy with no flavor. The meat tasted like it was only salted and boiled, no cilantro.
then only reason why I’m writing this review is because of my outrage over both the price and quality. I’ve had plenty of bad tacos before and never leave reviews but never this expensive. You can’t be both terrible and also ridiculously expensive, it was almost $20 for 3 tacos. I’m going to have to recook and re season everything in order to not waste it. Since it was takeout only I was too far for me to go back and return them.
Its pick up only, not sit down which was why I rated atmosphere the way i did since you can’t really rate a street lol

We ordered – carne asada and chorizo tacos, an order of Esquite, and both types of margaritas. We got the tacos deconstructed because we had to drive 30 minutes home before eating. Although it kept the tortillas from getting soggy, it meant the tortillas were dry rather than having the rich juices of the filling adding to flavor. The tacos were good not great. Especially for the price. They are twice the price of my favorite taqueria in Edmonston. Also, you have to order tacos in sets of three, which precludes trying more types unless you have a big group. I usually can eat only three tacos at a sitting and i like them to be three different kinds. The staff are super hard working, efficient, and friendly. Ordering online and picking up when texted was a breeze.

My god these tacos are amazing and the Birria tacos that you dip in a gravy/juice are to die for! They are juicy, full of flavor, not too salty, and stuffed. These tacos are an ultimate stop in DC to satisfy those taste buds!!!

So good! I had the tacos de tinga (shredded chicken tacos), esquites (Mexican street corn), tres leches (3 milk soaked cake), and jamaica agua fresca. Everything was delicious! I highly recommend Taqueria Xochi!

Was looking forward to trying this place for a while, I normally don’t leave reviews but I must because it’s over hyped. Unless I went on a bad day, I tried the Lengua tacos and they tasted as if it was just boiled and not seasoned at all. The Asada were a extreme disappointment literally was covered with salted onions and the taco literally had 3 or 4 pieces of carne. There Lamb birria was okay but def not worth the money. So if you’re in town make sure to start small as they don’t let you buy tacos individually or mix and match. Bought a total of 12 tacos and lamb birria tacos, 4 drinks and a chocoflan and spent well over 100$.
Definitely not worth it

Taqueria Xochi is hands down the best Mexican in the city, and perhaps the best new restaurant of 2020 (S/O Menya Hosaki). The tacos are unrivaled, the birria is so unique and wonderful, the chips and guac so fresh. Chicken cemita + mangonada is my favorite meal in Washington at any price point. I’ve been eating Doña Tere’s food since the Little Beast pop-up and while I miss having it in Upper NW, it is still well-worth the trip!
But that is not why I’m writing now. I am here with a PSA. Whatever you decide to order, add 10-15 fresh tortillas and several 2 oz. containers of the salsas verde y morita. Xochi’s handmade tortillas are the most authentic I’ve had north of the border and their salsas are delicious. Just add egg + bacon the next day for the best breakfast tacos around!
