Found an Awesome little gem here in Galt! Before I get to the food let me say the atmosphere is so chill. And the restroom is Clean! No crappy weird smell at all! Now, for the price next door at denys you will get your moneys worth here at the Taqueria!! The chips and salsas are self serve which is cool especially with the variety they have. I don’t do spicy too much But I will get down on these here! My lady got asada tacos and I got a surper burrito with carnitas. I have to say they were Very Delicious!! The asada isn’t dry like some other places and the carnitas were good and flavorful even with the guac pico and crema around it. Oh and let’s not forget the horchata! Very good and not too sweet, just right. We will definitely be coming again especially on the days for the specials!

My first time trying this new Taqueria and I sent these pictures to all my friends! My California burrito was piping hot (& still is close to an hour later!), packed full of yummy goodness, and so big I could only eat 2/3 of it in one sitting. On top of that, they have a salsa bar (free with your meal!) AND their chips are homemade. I just found my new regular spot!!

“The Al Pastor Spider Tacos Changed My Life!”
Okay, buckle up because I’m about to tell you about a taco that shattered my taste-bud reality. Santa Cruze Taqueria Express in Galt isn’t just a taco joint — it’s a culinary dimension portal disguised as a humble taqueria.
Let’s start with the Al Pastor Spider Tacos — holy moly, I’ve had tacos from every corner of California, but NOTHING compares to this masterpiece. The tortilla? Hand-pressed and fresh off the comal — soft, steamy, with that delicate char-kissed edge that whispers “authentic.” Then comes the cheese — melted to that golden, gooey perfection where it’s half creamy, half crispy — a balancing act that belongs in a Michelin kitchen.
And the meat… dear universe, the meat. Each bite of that tender, marinated al pastor bursts with layers of smoky sweetness and tangy pineapple undertones. It’s juicy enough to make your soul weep — the kind of flavor that makes you close your eyes, hum softly, and question your life choices for not finding this place sooner.
Just when you think it can’t get any better, they crown it with whole beans — yes, whole beans — adding this earthy, buttery depth that ties the whole experience together like the finale of a fireworks show. It’s bold, it’s messy, it’s beautiful — like a Mexican street-food symphony playing a love song to your senses.
Bottom line: Santa Cruze Taqueria Express isn’t just serving tacos — they’re redefining them. Forget five stars — this deserves a galaxy of glowing suns.

Wow. I am impressed with this little establishment. I was so sad to see El Rodeo close. But now I’m so happy at the same time. The food is amazing, and the staff was warm and welcoming. And the salsa bar. Yummmmm, their jalapeño are by far different than anything you’ve had. Also, the salsa bar is soooo good. Thr habanero salsa is pink and so good. It’s not even hot, just right. Jaimiaca is on point.

I am absolutely not one to complain, but we came here due to the high reviews, so I feel like it’s best to let other people know different opinions. Like another review said this is definitely not authentic or good Mexican food and I can confirm that the reviewer wasn’t mistaken about location. The food wasn’t flavorful, tasted like canned beans in the burritos, the business was too hot inside, and the waitress insisted that I ordered a side of rice and even showed me that she had written it. I had forgotten what I even asked for as a side. After thinking about why I got this side, I remembered that I asked for a side of fries. I didn’t mention it since I already felt uncomfortable that the waitress insisted that she was correct.

I deliver for them all the time on doordash, my landlord ordered some of their food and I decided to try it when they offered. This was the freshest meat and freshest vegetables and most healthy feeling highest quality Mexican food you can buy in this city. Shrimp smells amazing, very fresh, well seasoned, perfectly cooked, juicy, tender, just the right amount of bite. Incredible. Filled the full taco with meat and the freshest ingredients. I want to go here every single day because the taco was only $4 and very filling and incredible. Every time I have delivered for them they have been incredibly kind and thoughtful as well. Good people.

It’s okay food. The tacos were just okay, but the rice and beans are pretty good. It’s not bad for a quick bite to eat, but I would say it’s about average.

Food was very good and portion size was more than enough! The tortilla chips are one of the best I’ve had from a local Mexican restaurant. My family will definitely be coming back!
