Taquería Primo Chuki’s is a no-frills neighborhood taco spot that delivers bold, authentic flavors. The tacos al pastor were the highlight — juicy, well-marinated pork with a slight char, topped with fresh cilantro and onion on warm corn tortillas. I also tried a burrito, and it was generously filled without feeling overly heavy. The salsa had a nice kick and added just the right amount of heat. Service was quick and straightforward, and the prices were very reasonable. It’s the kind of casual Chicago taquería you go back to when you want something simple, flavorful, and satisfying.

This place to me is the very best place to go eat tacos. I live about 45 minutes from there, but i make the trip as often as i can cause they are that good.
The portions are very generous. The salsas are really good The waitress is very nice and fast at taking care of everyone, sometimes even El Primo waiters for you when needed. I was disappointed to know that those delicious spicy chips and beans are no longer provided while you wait, but I understand, times are hard.
The owner I’ve known always as Primo. He always and i mean always stops what he’s doing to greet and say bye to EVERY SINGLE one of his customers. He understands that simplicity goes a long way if you do it from the heart. That alone makes me want to keep coming back. Keep up the good work, and ill see you soon!!

We were working in the area. Stopped in and got burritos for the crew and myself. Pastor, chicken and steak. Very good and generously portioned. Reasonable prices. There’s a nice dining area. I’ll be stopping back to eat in for sure.

The best tacos and caldos in the area, with the friendliest staff. Every time I come in, to take out or eat in, the service is super fast while still being welcoming and friendly, and the tacos are perfect. Very generous portions (taco dinner is 3 tacos) with high quality meat. The cabeza is insanely tender and flavorful. The beans are perfectly seasoned and smooth — the best I’ve had on the north side by far! It’s impossible to say enough good things about this place. Definitely a gem in the neighborhood!

I’m so confused why this place is so highly rated, especially for the pastor. It was exceptionally mid and very disappointing. The pastor tacos honestly had almost no flavor and they cant even compare to LA and certainly not to Mexico (I spent at least a month in Mexico each year).
Another fail in my quest to find decent tacos in Chicago. Definitely would not return and would not recommend.
Service was good though.

Three words – $2 Taco Tuesday. Came by on a Tuesday and got a Al Pastor and Pollo (Chicken Tinga) taco. Man these tacos were fat. Loaded to the brim with meat and veggies, and encased in a double lined corn tortilla to ensure it stays. Not much else to say except they were bomb. Both salsas were solid, although i wish they had a bit more heat to them. The inside is like your typical mom and pop Mexican cafe, perfect for a sit down with friends to enjoy some good food. It was busy and the food came out quick too. Staff was friendly and helpful. Don’t walk, run to come try these for a great deal.

Went after the gym, got the taco dinner with two steak and one chicken with double rice no beans and a Jamaica margarita. Also got a side of chunky guacamole. $38 for everything.
Pros:
– Tacos were very good and they give you a lot of meat. They are not stingy at all with the toppings either. I preferred the steak over the chicken.
– Good spicy red salsa, a lot of places these days don’t sell spicy salsas anymore. There is a war on spicy foods:broken_heart:
– Marg was very good and cheap ($10) for how big it was. I didn’t know they sold liquor and was surprised to see it on the menu.
– Guac was good, seasoned and not too much lime or salt.
– Good service, the two women ran that place like the navy and were very kind!
Cons:
– Chicken taco is ehh, okay. I feel like a lot of Mexican spots chicken tends to be dry. Maybe that is how it is traditionally. I’m not Mexican so please correct me if I’m wrong. The chicken was seasoned though so it made up for it a little.
– Horrible rice, just not seasoned at all. Makes me sad when Mexican spots have bad rice. Next time I’ll just get fries or nothing at all.
– Marg wasn’t strong. But for $10 I never expected it to be. I know they have stronger drinks on the menu so next time I will try something else.
– It is cold in there, but I also sat by the window so if you get easily cold, don’t make the same mistake as me.
Overall I will be back. I know they have a $2 taco deal for the fish, chicken, carnitas and veggie tacos on Tuesday and Thursday. But I really like their steak so I may have to become a regular.

Tacos were pretty solid and for $1.99 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, you really can’t complain. Nothing mind-blowing here, just standard-issue offerings.
