Been here a couple of times already, and I really don’t understand nor agree with the bad reviews. This place has been CONSISTENTLY good.
The people that complain about the salsas, I don’t get it. They have 5 salsas and all five are good and taste fresh every single time I’ve visited.
The trompo and the arrachera are GREAT! Very well seasoned and tender, I will admit that the trompo negro isn’t that impressive, but I would assume it’s cause of how they make the black recado. Not a deal breaker, I just don’t order it.
Service has been nothing but excellent, friendly and courteous to us.
Based on my experiences, I wholeheartedly recommend this place.

The best way to start out trip to McAllen from Sweden! We ordered the guacamole with pork belly, elote corn (off the cob), Tijuana tostada, and mixed tacos. The tostada was incredible, but it was hard to pick a favorite because we were blown away by every single dish. Very high quality ingredients, homemade salsas, care and pride every moment of service. As well, the atmosphere is very friendly, laid back, and great music. We will always have beautiful memories of this dinner and learning so much about Mexico City cuisine. Thank you so much for this wonderful evening, we hope to be back!

The food was very good. The meat had a great flavor to them. Went with parents, they had tacos and I had a sincronizada. I also got pico de gallo with guacamole. Charro beans were also good. Would go again but I would order to go. They have tables outside but it’s hot.

I just had the most incredible taco experience, and I’m still drooling thinking about it! I tried one of each mamilita taco, and let me tell you, they were all on point! But the real stars of the show were the aguas frescas – the Guava & Hibiscus and Pineapple & Mint flavors were like a party in my mouth! If you’re a taco or agua fresca lover, you HAVE to try La Prieta Mamona. Trust me, you won’t regret it! 5 stars all the way!

I’m here on business from Dallas. I looked at the Google review scores to determine where I would eat street tacos. This place did NOT disappoint. The food was amazing, and the manager was checking on customers at the tables. I’ll definitely go back to eat here again before leaving for home in a few days. The El Pastor tacos with the Mexican bottled Coke was fantastic.

First timer, great food experience, pastor tacos great flavor, Huitlacoche tacos tasty and so good vegan option very good blue corn tortilla, service so kind and fast. Blacj pastor just a bit dry but so tasty. Very good music too.
