We found this restaurant after going to one of our kids soccer game and wow we were super impressed with their food, everything was so delicious, the tacos, the quesadillas, rice and beans… everything was amazing, definitely your real authentic Mexican flavors. Our kids really enjoyed as well. Next time we are close to Tavares we will definitely come back to La Chona!

If you’re in the mood for authentic Mexican cuisine, look no further than Taqueria La Chona! This hidden gem has quickly become one of my favorite spots for a delicious meal.
We recently dined here and ordered a variety of tacos: carne asada, al pastor, chorizo, and puerco. Each taco was packed with flavor, showcasing the restaurant’s commitment to quality and authenticity. The carne asada was perfectly grilled, tender, and seasoned to perfection. The al pastor had just the right amount of spice and sweetness, making it a standout for sure. The chorizo was rich and savory, while the puerco was incredibly juicy and bursting with flavor. Each taco was served on warm, fresh tortillas that complemented the fillings beautifully.
In addition to the tacos, we also couldn’t resist trying a plate of tamales. They were simply divine! Each tamale was incredibly moist and flavorful, with just the right amount of filling. The homemade salsa that accompanied the tamales added an extra kick, enhancing the overall experience.
To top it all off, the service at Taqueria La Chona was exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. They made us feel welcome and ensured our dining experience was top-notch.

This Taqueria has the best food in Lake County. While not a full Mexican restaurant they have all the best parts of Authentic Mexican food. Their salsa flavor is so good it will make all other salsa taste like ketchup. I go here at least twice a week for lunch and the service is always fast and the food is consistent. Everything is made fresh and you can tell.
