This place captures true hometown Southern cooking in the best way. Every dish I tried was full of comforting flavor plus made with care. The server provided warm, attentive service that added to the experience. I am already looking forward to my next visit.

Ate at May’s Restaurant for 1st time. Found out breakfast buffet ends at 9:45….then they switch buffet over to lunch. We were there around 10:30. Only a few patrons when we arrived…that changed very quickly as lunch crowd poured in! Buffet was nicely stocked. Servers were very friendly and attentive. All you can eat buffet with tea and a dessert for $12. What a deal!!!

This was my first time eating here. I was referred here and told it was home cook food, more like nursing home food. So bland that even after added salt and pepper or Tony’s seasoning didn’t help. I even tried smothering it with ketchup, didn’t help. The green beans was sour tasting like they cooked it in vinegar. The rice and brown gravy had no flavor. What we thought was sweet potato was in fact rutabaga which taste like cabbage. The spaghetti had meat tomato sauce and noodles no other seasoning. If you wanted Italian spaghetti you’re not going to get it here, you taste it no garlic, no oregano, no type of seasoning whatsoever. Fried chicken tasted like old grease that hadn’t been changed out in 2 weeks. The only thing that was good there was the pie. The coffee was okay, but they didn’t have any fountain drinks. They brought out my Dr pepper and a 20 oz bottle and a glass of ice. The parking lot look like it hadn’t been refurbished in 20 years. The price for the buffet was $12.00 per person.

If you like home cooked Southern food, this is your place. May’s is one of those hidden gems and well worth a visit. There is a buffet with all things Southern – fried chicken, sweet potatoes, peas, fried okra, chicken fried steak, butter beans, salads, iced tea, cornbread, and the best egg custard pie I’ve ever eaten. Of course, there are many more choices, and it’s all delicious. Drive up around 10:30, and you’ll find the place is already packed with locals— and that’s always a sure sign that you’re in for a treat. It’s nothing fancy but May’s is a great place to eat.

Everything was GREAT. I haven’t ate buffet style in years. The food and food selection was outstanding. I was passing thru on my way home but just may take the almost 3 hour drive back to eat there again. Sorry no photos this time.
