My wife loves Mexican food and we finally tried Taqueria Jalisco. There’s parking right outside the restaurant, staff are very friendly and food was authentic and amazing. We loved the complimentary chips with house salsa. (their salsa is heavenly) I had chorizo and pastor tacos and my wife just loved their birria enchiladas. Their churro was the best we’ve had in Vancouver. At first we thought the food was pricey but for their quality it’s worth it. We would definitely come back again!

Our dining experience unfortunately fell significantly below expectations.

– We ordered crispy vegetable Dorado tacos but were served soft corn tortilla tacos instead, seeming ready-to-eat corn tortillas filled with rice and beans, without the typical accompaniments one would expect — there were no vegetables, lettuce, cilantro, cheese, salsa, cream, or other garnishes to add freshness or balance. Lackadaisical!

$35 for five tacos, the value felt quite poor, especially since the dish lacked both texture and variety, and we lost our appetite, so much so that we left the food on the plate.

We also ordered pollo asada and enchiladas, but both dishes followed a very similar pattern: corn tortillas accompanied by rice and beans, with minimal differentiation in preparation, presentation, or flavor. Across the three dishes, the experience felt repetitive, as if we were essentially eating variations of the same components rather than distinct menu items.

Overall, it felt as though we paid close to $100 for multiple plates built around corn tortillas, rice, and beans, without the diversity of flavors, freshness, or quality typically associated with Mexican cuisine. The dishes lacked depth, seasoning, and thoughtful accompaniments that would elevate the meal.

The margarita was serviceable but unremarkable. It appeared to rely heavily on lime soda and did not taste like a crafted cocktail made with fresh ingredients or balanced proportions.

The chimichanga here was okay, I’d say a decent 3/5. The birria beef I got could’ve used a little more seasoning and been more tender, some parts I found to be very chewy. For $23 it could’ve been bigger too for sure.

The horchata tasted quite good and helped ease the spice, and it wasn’t too sweet either.

The restaurant is located in a sketchier plaza, so be aware of your surroundings.

The music and restaurant decent had a kind of local feel which is good too.

Service was friendly and fast.

Overall 3/5, would consider other restaurants at this price point.

Came here for dinner last night while in the area, and it was the best Mexican food I’ve had since I travelled to Jalisco. The high google ratings/reviews are a true representation of the food quality.

The vibe here is super casual and comfortable. It was not busy at 530pm on Tuesday. Plenty of booths and tables to choose from. The staff are polite and accommodating.

I ordered the mega quesabirria and it was incredible. The amount of birria had me feeling full after the second piece. The photo doesn’t showcase the generous amount of cheese holding it together either. The consomé sauce was so flavorful for dipping. The pieces even held together well when dipping multiple times. The monster burrito was also amazing. Great flavours and portion.

Rustic vibe, great drinks… but the service missed the mark. We had to repeatedly get the staff’s attention just to place our order, and watching another table get served and finish before us was frustrating. The drink – Mangonada Bellini was genuinely good and easily the highlight of the visit. Beautifully presented and full of flavor — but good drinks can’t fully make up for poor service. If the service improves, this place has potential.

This place is definitely a hidden gem here in Vancouver! The food selection has many great options and the serving portions are worth the price. Agua de horchata is a must authentically Mexican which is refreshing to find. Our server Valentina was fantastic! She helped us make our dining experience a friendly and welcoming one! Coming back!

We loved Val she was our server and the only person who seemed to be working. On a Friday night at a busy restaurant you’d expect a busy staff but we saw them standing around and chatting, while we waited 18 mins after arriving for someone to take our order. But once Val saw us she made sure our experience was better from there on.

We don’t recommend this place for the food specifically or the service, but only for Val. All my stars are for her!

I got huevos con chorizo and carne asada and my husband got himself a monster burrito. This is so far the best Mexican restaurant we never thought we would find in lower mainland. Try the tamarind jarritos as well, best to complete the package. Yesenia and Patricia provided us the best service as well. This is gonna be our go-to place from now on.

Ps:
The girls got us free desserts as well!

We’re definitely coming back!

We had a great experience with the service at the restaurant today. Yesenia and Fernando were very nice, friendly and accommodating. We has some good conversations and enjoyed the fresh food and music. We are vegan and vegetarian and we enjoyed our choices of the meals there. A bit too salty for us but yummy! We wanna come back again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolutely authentic Mexican food From the first bite you can taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. The flavors are rich, vibrant, and perfectly balanced — just like true Mexican street food. The tortillas tasted homemade, the meats were tender and well-seasoned, and the salsas had the perfect kick.

The service was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere made it feel like a little hidden gem. You can tell a lot of care goes into every dish. If you’re looking for real, authentic Mexican cuisine that’s full of flavor and heart, this is the place. I’ll definitely be back!
