I was extremely impressed! I absolutely love Mexican cuisine so I generally know what I’m getting when I order. I tried the steak quesadilla. Wow, I’m just surprised at the wonderful taste. It was delicious. The hot sauces that came with it were very good. Even the sour cream is very tasty. The only slightly negative thing is I’d like a little bigger serving. But that’s really because it’s was so darn good. I just want more! I look forward to trying other menu items. I also picked up a bottle of El Yucateco hot sauce in their little grocery area. Delish!
Update: Today, a few months later, I’m back! I tried the steak burrito. Wonderful. Just great food here, go there. Little advise, if your order is to go, ask for napkins. I was a little upset I got a burrito to go and realized after I left, no napkins.

The best most authentic Mexican I’ve had! Very warm and friendly atmosphere. The on the rocks lime margarita (only margarita option) is really good! Kids ate every bite! Will be back 100%

Taqueria Gonzales is muy authentico! Seriously this place is the place to go on the west side for delicious authentic hearty Mexican food. I’m not exactly qualified to say that just based an my own experience (although I did grow up in CA and spent 12 years in Los Angeles!). I actually this is the authentic place to go because of the clientele (see video!)
Their meat selection is terrific! Barbacoa, lingua, chicken, pork, chorizo… All fresh tasty and we’ll seasoned and cooked.
I love their tacos and burritos, but the fajita, enchilada, and other favorites are all great!
Service is fast and friendly…. And very reasonably priced! And they even have a small grocery for Hispanic cooking items.

The tripa tacos were amazing. Everything is spot on. This place is a hidden gem in Middleton.
Could not more highly recommend.
Just a note, you order at the counter and then sit and they will bring everything to you. It’s not clearly indicated but they will come take your order pretty quickly.

man, has this place gone downhill over the past couple years, it used to be really quite good. now? avoid. very underwhelming bland food across the board. dry, overcooked meats, burnt beans etc. hostess sits on her phone in the back meanwhile the booths are dirty, the floors are dirty and there are spilled drinks in several places, gross.

Great flavors with burrito. Great salsa although not enough. Huge portion for price. My only note is they could use a better cut for steak. Too much cartilage/tendons. But super good flavor

This is my #1 place to get tacos in all of Dane County. Their Chorizo tacos have the perfect kick and are so delicious you can’t even order tacos from anywhere else without wishing they were these tacos instead! They also do takeout and will whip up food quickly for you so this is a perfect stop on the way home as well.
