We paid about $50 for a family of four. We were thinking we would have gotten the meals just like the pictures right above us when we said the word combo after everything. The food tasted somewhat authentic, I have been to Mexico a million times and was missing the flavors. The portion size were extremely small and we went home very hungry. We got a tasty chimichanga that came with a little bit of lettuce. The second meal was two tostadas about 3 in in diameter with a very small scoop of beans and rice. The third Meal was the birria tacos and they were tasty but again a very small portions. Lastly I was very excited to try the sopes. Very disappointed. They are extremely thin and pretty much a tostada shell. Overall I would say this place was somewhat tasty but the cost of the food is outrageous for the proportions that you get. A bottle of soda was over 5.00. Like I said we went home hungry and had to eat a whole second meal.

The food was amazing we had a torta quesabirria and a kid taco combo.
My 5-year-old autistic son loved the taco combo and then my wife loved the Torta combo with fries.
If you love spicy you’ll love the quesabirria consume. And on top of it their agua fresca hit the spot just right. They also have desserts in the cooler but I didn’t get a chance to try it yet with how everything else is though I would definitely give it a shot if not repeatedly buy it.

Excellent home made authentic Mexican food. It’s about the food here, not the atmosphere. Some of the best tacos lenguas I’ve ever had! Everyone was pleased with the food. Beans and rice tasted like my mom’s!

If you want THE best Mexican food in central Wisconsin but dont ever get invited over to a Mexican household, El Zabas is your best option. Look im just a white dude, which means I don’t typically like Tripe. However the Menudo at El Zabas is phenomenal, Menudo is soup made with Tripe, I didnt think I’d like it but I love it. Its a little spicy for many. The best Birria, birra PIZZA, birria ramen, quesebirria. Every single item ive ever ordered from El Zabas has been so delicious I seriously cannot pick a favorite. If you value flavor and want to treat your taste buds to a gift come to El Zabas. I don’t give 5 stars lightly they earned it at El Zabas

The burritos and tacos here are always AMAZING!! The owners are very friendly and accommodating! They offer a Taco Tuesday special, and also have DJ/ Karaoke equipment for Saturday nights or for parties! They have a lot of space and accommodations for events as well! Definitely a hidden gem in Wausau! ☀️
