A very welcoming gem in the heart of Oak Grove. The restaurant has a very lighthearted, casual ambiance. Service was superb.

Was here yesterday for lunch with friends and not a great experience. We waited close to an hour for our food which was not a big deal since we were all catching up in conversation. I was given my order and started to eat it starving at this point and get about a 3rd of the way through the goat cheese enchiladas when the server comes over to me and tells me they gave me the wrong order. Mine does not have all the ingredients and would they like me re-make it and take that away and bring me another one at this point I’m like no I’ll just deal with this. It did look like it was missing some things and very bland but quite honestly I did not want to wait and not eat with my friends and keep sitting there so I declined. She said she’d give me a discount whatever normal mistake but when I got my check it was the full amount when I went to pay and asked she said oh, I’m gonna give you a discount she took my credit card and came back with a two dollar discount taken off after she ran my card. Honestly with this mistake I feel like I should’ve gotten at least 50% off for the meal. Not had to sit there even longer after every one paid and finally get $2 off. The dish was not great as it was a special order for someone else who wanted all the vegetables removed. Really it was beans and rice with tortillas, wrapped and goat cheese and not at all what I read on the menu.

So I came here for the reviews but I was veryyyyy happy with the service. They went above and beyond to make sure I was good. Being a first timer the manager came over and that’s always a good thing. The best was that the drinks on Thursday you can take home in a bottle!!!!! Love that, since I wouldn’t drink a whole pitcher of margarita alone on a Thursday night. Will def come back.

Absolutely amazing food. We drive over 30 minutes to eat here and won’t eat at any other Mexican restaurant. We are always greeted by a kind woman (I’m assuming a manager or owner). We love the salsa bar. The gluten free options are phenomenal. Not sure why people are saying this restaurant doesn’t have friendly staff, literally never a bad experience. Try the breaded avocado, it’s amazing!! I cannot say enough good about this place. Oh, don’t forget to try the breaded chicken taco, it’s fantastic. Hoping the restaurant will comment and tell us their favorite dish so I have an excuse to try a new dish!

What a great place. The food was delish, I had the brisket taco and the pork taco. Meat was so tender and flavorful. Service was 100%. Hidden away in the shopping center so don’t pass it by !!

Honestly, the food was very mediocre. We went here for a team lunch and I 100% regret it. No one really liked their food. One team member ordered the salmon quesadilla and it was absolutely horrible. She took one bite and asked for something different instead. The manager (they had a short hair cut) came out and rudely said “I can’t have you out here just sampling food”. I’ve never seen that before. She was so nasty toward us and would not take the quesadilla off the bill so we paid our bill and left. The server, he was really nice and polite, too bad I can’t say the same about the manager.

Combine smoke meats with authentic Mexican food and you get Taqueria El Vecino. The skirt steak taco and smoked brisket taco will blow your mind. If you’re looking for a vegetarian option they have several. The goat cheese enchiladas will do the trick. I’ll be visiting again. Guaranteed.

High-end restaurants are known for charging more for higher quality offerings and an unbeatable dining experience, ones you know not to bring your children to. This is not that restaurant. Instead we ventured in on Taco Tuesday into a loud, brightly lit family filled restaurant. The food was excellent and we were excited to find a new place to dine with our family. Unfortunately due to our kids dropping a few chips (and consequently crushing them), sprinting to the bathroom, grabbing a cookie from the cookie jar that is set out for kids and maybe just in general existing on the same planet as Bree our waitress we had a dining experience one expects in hell or Buckhead. While I hope this is not the general consensus of this establishment, the scorns, eye rolls and resentment we received from our waitress made us feel like we we’re bottom of the barrel human beings. Parents with 100% well mannered kids should only dine here. Mine were reasonable after first day of school, I can imagine we would have been asked to leave had they truly been in full force.

Can’t believe I hadn’t made it to the spot before now. It’s delicious and the salsa bar really ties the whole experience together. Think of a less fussy Little Rey with more options. We got six different tacos and each one was excellent. The Korean BBQ taco won the day.

This isn’t a typical Mexican restaurant. Though the menu includes typical American Mexican restaurant fare, there is a real emphasis on smoked meat here.
