Had a business lunch today and I ordered 2 Chicken Tacos with a bottle water and tortilla chips complimentary. I’ve eaten here before and had previously talked with the father of this family-owned business. There is a vegetarian option, but I haven’t tried it. Highly recommend for their great food, quick service and beautiful atmosphere.

the service was friendly. the food lacked flavor, i ordered the meat fries , the meat was “cut” into huge chunks and had the flavor of meat tendorizer and no other seasoning. Almost broke a bracket from a random stick in the food not sure where this comes from as none of the vegetables (onion/cilantro) in my plate have solid wood branches for stems. the prices keep rising and the plate sizes seem to get smaller. would recommend going anywhere else but here.

Great place, super friendly, good food, and good prices. What more to ask for. Wished I lived local to this place but it’s several states over!

I ordered nachos, with asada and tripe. It was severely overcooked. The chips were so stale, even overcooked they had no crunch. It was very flavorless and rubbery. Extremely disappointed. The guy behind the counter was also pretty rude. Thank god I took a screenshot of my order because I am not a door dasher so I almost couldn’t even get my food.
The place was completely empty, and now I know why…. Waste of $13.

Ooooooooo my gawd! One of the staff recommended taco/quesadilla with Al pastor meat….heaven! Great flavor!
The place is clean, inviting, and easy to get to. The staff was lovely and so friendly. I’ll be back next time I’m in Las Cruces!

I got two Tacos de asada for my daughter she didn’t complain about fat in the taco, she just mentioned how the cuts of meat were a little too big, I got the quesabirria tacos, they were full of meat, the consomé was good but it’s missing that little spice to it. Overall they were good and friendly.

Great food. Owner and staff patient and knowledgeable in helping us with selections. Very flavorful with or without the ‘heat’ of the sauces. Great prices. Just really good food in clean environment.

This place was better as a food truck.

As a restaurant it’s bad. It’s a friendly place that gives a good family feeling. But that’s not translated to the food.

Quasdilla had fat, it was stringy as if it wasn’t cut properly, or sorted.

The birria tacos were soggy and extremely stuck together. Picture enchiladas with birria sticking out from both ends.

No crunch. And consume was so watered down, you can tell they were trying to make it last or get more out of the broth without having to make more.

The El pastor was porkchop texture. Too thick and not thin like all pastor would normally be. They also had 1 inch long onions in the tacos. They weren’t finely chopped.

We had days burgers and burger nook close down that were actually good places to eat. It this place cant capture that food truck spirit again, I don’t see it staying open past 15 years.

As a Hispanic person I enjoyed eating here. I don’t think mateos is a Mexican restaurant. It’s very del taco like authenticity. Taqueria Chavez had that magic food truck touch and I would go to this food truck almost every other week. It was that good. All the details of a taco were on point. Im rooting for it to succeed, but I hope this review helps them and the guests planning to eat here.

Normally visit their food truck for Birria Tacos which are incredible. Tried the store front and got the asada tacos, which come as 4 small street type tacos. Meat had great flavor and the taco sauce was really good as well.

Update, got tacos again this time one with shrimp, one asada, and one with al pastor. Shrimp was best, asada second, al pastor was dry and chewy. Beans were ok.

Went back and got the Quesabirria tacos with consome, ridiculously delicious!
