False Advertising and Poor Quality Food

I placed an order through Uber Eats from Taqueria Aguascaliente in Cicero, IL, because their menu clearly describes the Burrito de Carne Asada as being made with skirt steak (chopped). That detail was the main reason I decided to order from them. However, what I received was definitely not skirt steak — it was just regular steak, which completely changes the flavor and quality of the dish. This is misleading and disappointing, especially when the menu specifically promotes skirt steak. Customers deserve honesty and accuracy in menu descriptions, and this was simply not the case here.
I also ordered a chicharrón en salsa verde taco, and that was another major letdown. The tortilla tasted old and dry, and the chicharrón itself had no real flavor or seasoning. The green sauce lacked depth and freshness, almost as if it had been sitting for too long or was made without the authentic spices that give this dish its traditional Mexican flavor. It was bland, unappealing, and completely underwhelming. For a place that presents itself as a taqueria, I expected a lot more attention to taste, quality, and freshness.
The only thing in my entire order that was decent was the agua de horchata, which was refreshing and tasted fine. However, it’s very disappointing when the best part of your meal ends up being just the drink. Everything else failed to meet even the most basic standards of what customers should expect from an authentic Mexican restaurant.
I truly value and support local businesses, especially small taquerias that take pride in their food and culture. Unfortunately, Taqueria Aguascaliente did not deliver that level of care, honesty, or authenticity. The food quality was poor, the menu description was misleading, and the preparation felt rushed and careless.
For a restaurant that promotes itself as an authentic Mexican taqueria, this experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. Accuracy, quality, and flavor should never be optional — they should be guaranteed. After this experience, I can confidently say I will not be ordering from Taqueria Aguascaliente again, whether through Uber Eats or directly from the restaurant. I hope they take this feedback seriously and make improvements, because as of now, this place is far from what it claims to be.

Use of Manteca or pork fat lard in many dishes. When asked, they couldn’t tell me which ones. I tried ordering a “healthy” nopales dish but it was cooked in lard. I didn’t realize until after I ate it and had the flavor left in my mouth for 3 hours. I stay away from lard and I’ll stay away from now on because it seemed they don’t know which dishes have it and which ones don’t. Flavor and prices are good aside from the lard usage.

Just went to buy 3 tacos a few 20 min ago . 1st, the tacos are expensive. i dont care about that, but if the tacos are going to be expensive, it is because they’re going to be good tacos. The meat, in this case, the asada they gave me was like the last meat little as chucks full full of oil is disgusting is upset i usually go there once in a while and the food is good this case they did a really bad job….

Food was disappointing for sure. Very expensive. 3 Gorditas and a torta was $47. Food was so horrible. Food was definitely not good. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone like other comments have stated.. lack of flavor in everything. I wish I would’ve seen the reviews before going.

PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE! So I went in to have dinner recently only to find half of what looked to be a dead cockroach! God only knows where the other half ended up . I took the plate directly to the server and she then called over the manager and all he said is “well I won’t charge you”.. yea thanks! I will never eat there again please take your business elsewhere plenty other better food places nearby.

Stopped by for a late lunch with my father. Service was impeccable. We ordered several gorditas, a steak milanesa and a couple of beers. Food was great although I wish the salsas offered had been spicier. Ambience was just ok. Overall, I would recommend this place especially for their gorditas which were quite delicious!
