Great little spot downtown. We walked in to the bar and noticed the long row of taps.

It was explained to us how the operation works. You pay by the oz. And on average was .60 cents per oz.

You load a card up with funds or attach a credit card so that you can freely pour your own beer

The food for the bar would be considered mid to upscale bar food.

I was kinda hungry so I forgot to take pictures but I did get the pulled pork BBQ grilled cheese which was good.

I like the concept. It’s pretty fun so I definitely give it a try.

Restaurant Review: A Winning Experience at Taps on Main
Taps on Main consistently delivers an exceptional dining experience, making it a standout choice for both casual meals and special events in Kansas City’s vibrant Crossroads Arts District. Recently, I had the pleasure of hosting our fantasy football draft at this establishment, and it exceeded all expectations.
From the moment we arrived, the staff’s professionalism and warmth set the tone. They were attentive, accommodating, and genuinely invested in ensuring our group had a fantastic time. Their seamless coordination made the draft event run smoothly, creating a welcoming and festive atmosphere that kept everyone in high spirits. The team’s ability to anticipate our needs and handle requests with efficiency was truly commendable, aligning with reviews praising their fast and engaging service.
The food, often an afterthought at event-focused venues, was a delightful surprise. Taps on Main offers a menu of upscale bar food, including their standout Buffalo-style wings, which are touted as the best in the city, and Mardi Gras-inspired dishes like hearty Jambalaya. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, boasting fresh ingredients and bold flavors that elevated the experience. The quality and presentation rivaled that of higher-end establishments, making it clear that the kitchen takes pride in its craft. The pour-your-own-beer wall, featuring 40 taps, added a fun and interactive element, allowing our group to sample a wide variety of craft beers at our leisure.
The ambiance strikes a perfect balance—lively yet comfortable, ideal for group gatherings or a night out. The space is clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed, with a charming outdoor patio that enhances the experience on pleasant evenings. The dozen televisions and vibrant atmosphere make it an ideal spot for sports fans, yet it remains welcoming for all.
In summary, Taps on Main is a gem that consistently delivers on service, food, and atmosphere. Whether you’re planning a special event like our fantasy football draft or simply looking for a great meal, this restaurant is sure to impress. I highly recommend it and look forward to returning soon.

Really neat place. Lots of beers on tap. You pour your own and pay just for what you get. I didn’t try it. Can’t comment on quality.
The burger was great. The tater tots were great. Good value. My friend had an Old Fashioned, loved it. Had a melt, loved it. Really friendly efficient staff.

Great place to grab a beer, especially if you like to pick from specialty ones on tap. Simply go up to the bartender give them your debit card. They give you a white card that you can go up to any tap and swipe and pour as much beer as you want, and that card stays with you until the end And then you will go up to the Bar Tender and tab out and they will use your debit card to tap out when you are done! ✔️

When the taps are on, they’re on. But I’ve been a couple times and nearly half aren’t working or are empty. I’m sure the business model is a tough one for keeping every tap working and full if business isn’t booming all days of the week. That being said, the food is fantastic. Highly recommend the buffalo anything. Very local friendly and everything was fresh and made to order. A great place for a workday lunch or a stop when bar hopping along Main.

This place has pour your own beer taps, which I would definitely recommend! Even though I didn’t do it, my friends did! They got their own little card to swipe to get beer! It’s cheap to do and great for sampling a wide range of beers. When we did go to the bar, our bar tender was easy to chat with and she was fast with service. Clean place and wide range of drinks!!! I loved their margs!!!! I got lucky on parking lol it was literally in front of the business and I didn’t have to pay WOHOO!!

I had a delightful experience at this restaurant! The ambiance was lovely, and the food and service were outstanding. We had the pleasure of bringing our furry friend along, and we enjoyed the patio seating. Although I must deduct one star and give it a rating of four stars instead of five, it was solely due to the extended wait time of approximately one hour for our food. However, the server excelled in keeping us informed about the delay, demonstrating excellent communication skills.

We had a big company meeting at the Kauffman Center. The Taps on Main was just a few blocks away and my team (about 25) went for drinks and snacks afterwards. At 4:15 on a Thursday, we had the place to ourselves and parking was available in their lot. But, I imagine you will need to park on the street at busier times.

They seemed to have whatever my coworkers wanted. I enjoyed a Shirley Temple and appreciate that they have non-alcoholic options.

The servers were attentive and brought out our food pretty quickly. The pretzel sticks, chicken fingers, and fried chicken fingers were a hit. The nachos looked delicious but were soggy so those weren’t as popular. I am dairy free, so we ordered French fries which were delightful. They were just the right texture – a little crunchy and soft inside.

They have some large garage style doors that open up the restaurant to outdoor seating and it was a beautiful day.
