During our first visit about a week ago, we chose a street-side table to bring our puppy along. A large umbrella provided shade, but the late afternoon sun still made it warm and uncomfortable. However, the staff was wonderful. They were friendly, attentive, and genuinely tried to ensure we were settled in.
We started with a pitcher of sangria and two tapas: Patatas Bravas and Kobe Beef. The sangria was refreshing, not too sweet, and exactly what we wanted on a warm day. Both tapas were excellent. The Patatas Bravas were crispy with just the right spice, and the beef was tender and flavorful. The soup of the day was another pleasant surprise.
For our main course, we shared the Paella Mixta. As expected, it took about 45 minutes to prepare, which was fine by us; we were happy to linger with the sangria and tapas. While we waited, I wandered into the covered area next door and discovered there was live music and flamenco dancing. That was a fun surprise, and honestly, I wish we had known in advance; we definitely would have reserved a table inside to enjoy the performance.
When the paella arrived, it was the one part of the meal that didn’t quite meet our expectations. While flavorful, the seafood didn’t taste as fresh as I had hoped. It wasn’t enough to spoil the evening, but it was a bit of a letdown after such a strong start.
Even with that hiccup, we had a really good time. The indoor dining area looked lively, welcoming, and full of energy, and it was clear that many of the regulars knew this place well. We’ll definitely be back for the sangria and tapas, and hopefully next time, we will have a front-row seat to enjoy the music and flamenco dancing.
Steve is a genuine cool dude running the bar and the whole crew behind him had great energy and served phenomenal food. They even showed some love to my aquatic friends I’ll be back. You should go, too.
Was a relatively busy Saturday evening rush , didn’t have a reservation, but it was nice that my date and I have been able to be squeezed in. The place felt a bit small but considering that it was downtown it’s not a surprise. It did feel a little warm inside but considering it was triple digit weather outside after all, it is bearable inside compared to outside. Server/s were nice and accommodating. Now the food all look great, plating is nice and all, though it didn’t taste as extravagant as it had looked. Food wasn’t the best but is not going to be any life changing experience if you’re expecting the sort. For the price and feel and pun in the name, it was rather a little bit of a letdown. Overall it was still a decent experience to get to be inside a Spanish themed establishment and welcome others to try the place regardless.
Oh and parking is a pain. Downtown sacramento parking is a pain.
There was a B-day party on the back and they were loud, it was impossible to listen to the music, let alone having a quiet conversation.
